Wez G - Sweet Tooth

I've been munching fruit menthos all week - can't get enough of them so a sweet theme seemed appropriate, that and the first two songs are about sweets, including a great remix of the eagerly anticipated new Billie Ray Martin track, surely one of the greatest vocalists to ever have graced the dancefloors of clubland. The mix begins deep and funky and progresses through to some nice banging beats with a lush vocal finish courtesy of Sharam. Sweet all the way...

The Bay Area dance trio and festival favorite looks to break out with this debut album. (Spinner) Glitch, sort of. The future sound of dance? Really like this. Makes no sense, can't describe it, all I can say is it sounds extremely cool, and so good it sounds great turned low as well as it should be - up. Production and ideas remind me a lot of Yeasayer.

What a difference a month makes, eh? I don't know about you but 2009 has been quite the shit year so far; if it's not personal upheavals at home/work, then it's another natural disaster, civil uprising or celebrity succumbing to cancer flooding the news. This alongside having to contend with intellectually reprehensible Reality TV shows that, in spite of all of their horribleness, remain compulsively watchable. And if I even begin to start on American Idol, I'll never finish, so... It was also, of course, awards season too, one which saw Coldplay, Duffy and A.R. Rahman (with the rather fabulous Slumdog Millionaire score) in particular hoover up the competition and leave the full bag outside for the crows to slowly rip apart. With all this in mind, I'm keen to treat the end of February as the unofficial start to the new year, complete with a brand new iPod Classic and thirty albums to listen to. Those brave enough to read what I have to say can find the critiques below for their sleep-inducing pleasure... you have been warned!

Mon 14 Jul – Yazoo: Reconnected

I've been putting this review off purposely as it will be difficult for me to be completely objective for the reason that I'm a much bigger fan of Alison Moyet than of Yazoo. Don't get me wrong! I loved Yazoo's Upstairs at Eric's when it was first released, and I consider it to be one of my many favorites to this day. You and Me Both is equally good, but I never became quite as familiar with that one until recently. (They released only the 2 CDs and a single or 2 before abruptly splitting, Vince going off to form Erasure and Alison beginning her solo career.) I truly loved synth-pop (or whatever you choose to call it) throughout the early to late '80s, but I now find it somewhat dated. Yazoo is an exception, however, due to Alison's voice and Vince's genius. Still, I prefer Alison's solo material to her Yazoo stuff. So, with that in mind...

We drove to Chicago from Detroit (about a 5-hour excursion) to see the show…

Y Junio no para,singles y albums nuevos por todos lados y todos los dias!
Tras el regreso a los escenarios,luego de 25 años de su separacion,Yazoo,duo formado por Vince Clarke,ex Depeche Mode y actual Erasure y Alison Moyet,editaron un box set de 3 cds,sus 2 albums mas un cd de remixes.
La caja se llama “In Your Room” ademas editaron un single con remixes 2008 y entre ellos,se encuentra una version remixada por Andy Bell,el vocalista de Erasure,quien era fanatico de Yazoo y que nunca se habria imaginado que iva a terminar trabajando con Vince,ahora cumple el sueño del pibe y remixo el tema “Nobodys Diary” logrando una version muy actual y rara en el final,pero manteniedno el espiritu de la original.
Otros remixes incluidos son los de “Situation” por los Hercules & Love Affair, “Goodbye 70s en al version Black Light Odyssey Y de nuevo “Nobodys Diary” remixado por Koishii & Hush.
En cuanto al show del 26 de Mayo,puedo decirles que fue excelente,tocaron 20 temas,practicamente todos los de su corta carrera…
