You're 14 now, you moved on, you realized Clutch and Strapping Young Lad are deeper.

Just for the records, can somebody paste an example of some of Maynayrd's deep and brilliant lyrics on here because I'm having trouble finding any myself. Thanks.

Who's bothering who? Any profound and self-respecting Tool fan would know that your own free will dictates your course of action -oh shit, I'm starting to sound like you. LOL. What you said holds true for "good poetry', not so much average poetry like Tool. But I do urge you to come back, reading your moronic, pretentious attempts at being a sage of progressive rock is more entertaining than a circus sideshow.

Jesus, who really cares? If listening to Tool opens your mind, fabulous. If all Tool is to you is a good(/bad?) listening experience, that's great too. What on earth are you even arguing about? Who really cares if Maynard is great or crap, there are more important things in life to worry about. Music doesn't need to be one. Listen to them if you like it, don't if you don't. Simple.

LOL, I know all that, and Tim is not that well known in Europe if you ask but I know he his quite famous where you live. I'm just kind of tired of answering, you missed the point, I don't care. I never said quoting Tim Leary was deep, I'm just saying your reasoning sucks when you bring unrelated stuff. And the lyrics with the ambient of the music go far beyond quoting. Good poetry just can't be interpreted literaly, anybody with a regular number of brain cells knows that and you've only come with some of the shallowest lyrics of Tool to this discussion, cuz simply you totally missed the point of the rest. Can't see that? DEAL WITH IT and stop bothering me, I've better stuff to do.

So I'm a corporate pawn for not being inspired and enlightened by second-rate lyrics? LOL. Your logic and reasoning (if you could even call it that) behind Tool's music being the key for infinite knowledge and understanding is quite ridiculous. If you listen to Tool's lyrics without cupping Maynard's balls in your mouth, they're pretty straight forward and again, nothing worth hailing the man as a genius for. And everyone knows who Timothy Leary is name-dropping him doesn't make you look any more unique and anti-corporate, sorry to burst your bubble.

You've just proved what I said, you got nothing out of Tool. Keep buying it's good for the band, the world needs morons like you to that think thought provoking is talking against politics or religion. The "Think for yourself, question authority" stuff is not even from Tool, it's just a tribute to Tim Leary, telling you to go check him out, at least give applicable examples.

@SheddingSerpent: What did I get out of Tool? A good listening experience. That's it. Shouldn't that be enough anyway? And let's just ignore the fact that you completely sidestepped my question, what it sounds like to me is that you're comparing me to the subject of that song. Why? Because I don't find them as deep and intelligent as they let on? Because I've heard more thought-provoking things come out of one of my roommate's drunken 3 AM rants? I've read the lyrics to all of Tool's songs at one point or another and there's just nothing innovative about them, unless you're some suburban pothead who hasn't touched a book in his life. "Monkey killin monkey killin monkey over pieces of the ground" -oooh I get it, cuz like, the PEOPLE are the monkeys! WHOA MANN SOOO DEEP. Questioning authority and thinking for yourself is such an elementary concept, if you truly believe Tool are geniuses for introducing you to this concept, you must not have been educated well in your youth.
