Probably my least favorite Velvet Teen song, actually. Seems like a huge detour from the main themes of Elysium. Still rather impressive, though, and I listen from time to time.

The lyrical genius contained in this song becomes more and more relevant each year since it's release but it's sad to see how things are going in the US & world (Indefinite detention, SOPA, continuous war and the economic hegemony showing its fangs with each repressive law) I would also like to attribute this song to waking me up, which since then my life is more full and meaningful, And the theme of Christianity - I love. I believe there are great truths to be found in all the worlds religions, if you can see how most of it is metaphor. People just need to open their eyes and minds and hearts and the truth will reveal itself.

i find that Elysium is a really good album to study to, so I don't always focus on the music. After hearing this song 6 or 7 times, I finally started to LISTEN to the song, and I'm blown away. The lyrics are amazing, I agree with the people who say it's epic...even if i don't necessarily with the views of the song.

really, its a testament that despite the nature of change around us and the forces that push the world forward, we're all in this struggle together. We're the same!

I agree, this song is a masterpiece. Musically it's unique, lyrically it's a tour de force, and it captivates me for 13 minutes ever time I hear it. The song has two themes, which Judah weaves together: government control and Christianity. To hear him tell it, The Good News was delivered 2000 years ago, and yet now, with the rise of technology, rampant consumerism and the nanny state, people are being led astray and denied salvation at a faster clip than ever. He lists negative social trends and then references Biblical numerology to make his case that There's Only One Way Out. Personally, I find it ironic that this was released in 2004, in the middle of arguably the most overtly Christian presidency ever. With the rise of mega-churches and the Joel Osteens of the world raking in the dough, Judah's complaint that Christians are being discriminated against strikes me as laughable. However, this militant atheist can recognize genius when he hears it, and this song CERTAINLY qualifies.

This is one of the most elegant and masterful achievements in modern pop music in the last twenty years, I'd say. I know the word is waved about quite a lot lately but this song is really epic. Amazing.
