In a minor scale, this 11-piece marvel brings to mind some baroque subtileness from The Zombies, or even some softness from The Beach Boys. It seems that nobody's expecting such improvement to the catchy pop made by James Mercer and his comrades, and this is creating a wholesome confusion between fans, more focused on perfect anthems like Caring Is Creepy.
But, how can someone argue that Phantom Limb, Red Rabbits, A Comet Appears and Australia aren't cristal clear gems? Enjoy it :)

In Sleeping Lessons, the first track on Wincing the Night Away, you can see how the style has dramatically changed, with more of a *dreamy* feeling without the guitars.
Phantom Limb bring us back to the classic The Shins feeling and is such an excellent song.
The rest of the album has a mix of good and bad songs. I'm not digging their songs that shy away from their classic "sing along with me guitar" feel from the first two albums.

I'm pretty sure that this album will be released in stores early next year but I'm not sure it will be sitting next to my other two Shins albums. :(
<3 The Shins but I'll stick to the first two albums...::^^::
