So, where did these pouty-lipped, curvy-hipped sculptresses disappear to? Having lived in places crawling with artistes for some time now, I'm afraid I haven't encountered any such creatures. And I would very much like to. Very, very much. But no, the artsy species with which I'm familiar isn't alive to the immediate pleasures of the finely-sculpted female form, or the Rezillo's finely-sculpted brand of pop-punk, or anything else, for that matter. You know the type--wan, scrawny, clad in black, and enamored of ironic distance above all else. (It may be a stereotype, but it's still a type.) They're too hip for hips, too concerned with freaking out the bourgeoisie to get their freak on. I mean, look: we all wanna shake up the squares, break up conventional forms of expression, and make up a freer, more equitable world--but is it really too much to ask that you look good doing so? I'd like to think not.
