A panel of prominent scholars and academics have added their voices to an important case that was referred to the Court of Justice of the European Union. The paper published by the European Copyright Society aims to answer the question of whether Publishing a hyperlink to content amounts to a communication to The Public and therefore a breach of the creator’s copyright under European law.

One of the roles of the Court of Justice is to interpret EU law to ensure that it’s applied in the same manner across all EU member countries. The Court can also be called upon by national courts to interpret finer points of EU Law.

A case referred to the CJEU by Sweden’s Court of Appeal is definitely one to watch, as the outcome has the potential to affect the very structure of the Internet.

Aaron Swartz, a wizardly programmer who as a teenager helped develop code that delivered ever-changing Web content to users and later became a steadfast crusader to make that Information freely available, was found dead on Friday in his New York apartment.

He was 26.

An uncle, Michael Wolf, said that Mr. Swartz had apparently hanged himself, and that Mr. Swartz’s girlfriend had discovered the body.

At 14, Mr. Swartz helped create Rss, the nearly ubiquitous tool that allows users to Subscribe to Online Information. He later became an Internet folk hero, pushing to make many Web files free and open to the public. But in July 2011, he was indicted on federal charges of gaining illegal access to JSTOR, a subscription-only service for distributing scientific and literary journals, and downloading 4.8 million articles and documents, nearly the entire library.

Nesse sentido institui um sistema de qualificação em dois planos: um geral, constituído por cinco níveis (de A a F), e um outro, respeitante a cada um desses cinco, constituído por outros três (de A a C).
Desta forma penso tornar-se mais óbvio aquilo que penso em relação a cada título, procurando atenuar diferenças entre, por exemplo, o primeiro e o último álbum classificados com AA, e realçá-las entre, por exemplo, o último álbum com a classificação AA e o primeiro com AB.

- Openness: Keep the Internet an open network where everyone is free to Connect, Communicate, write, Read, Watch, SpeaK, Listen, Learn, Create and innovate.

- Innovation: Protect The Freedom to innovate and create Without Permission. Don’t block new technologies, and don’t punish innovators for their users' actions.

- Privacy: Protect privacy and defend everyone’s ability to Control how their data and devices are used.
