I picked this one up, not sure on what was going to be inside. To be honest its quite a misleading cover/design. To me at first I thought I was expecting something of the singer-songwriter genre, or maybe even vocal pop. I weighed this up with the title, and came to the conclusion that it must be a band of some sort, and thought it could possibly be an indie rock attempt. But no. Completely different and I'm currently listening to a post-hardcore / emo mini-album.

That's another thing. Forget a track-listing on the rear sleeve, it makes no sense - maybe even to the original Gracenote submitter who decided gfdgfdgfd was a suitable title *facepalm*.

Anyway, THE MUSIC. I'm not one to talk to about post-hardcore, forget anything 'heavier' - i.e. deathcore or what ever other stupid 'core' name its given now. I'm usually drawn towards the emo style…

We Are Scientists которые играли на разогреве играли на плохом звуке. И играли плохо. Фальшиво пели, прыгали и поэтому нечисто и не всегда попалади по нужным струнам.
Какие-то The Cranberries с мужицкими голосами иногда с битами Joy Division и периодическими гитарными запилами, какими страдают школьники - ну хочется показать электричество в работе, а ты не Steve Vai и в то же время претендуешь не на Мишу Шуфутинского. Мелодии как таковой нет. Тексты песен чем-то похожи на наших поющих трусов - запоминающиеся одно или два слова - toogeather, i'll be your что-то там. В общем, для сравнения, Snow Patrol на разогреве у U2 были на порядок лучше: звук, материал, матёрость.

Но зато в отличие от концерта U2 Muse появились на сцене минут через 15-20 после этих We Are Scientists против полутора часов у U2.

Ну, началось.
Я прыгал так, как прыгал разве что в пьяном угаре на панк-концертах в уже далеком 2007-м…

So my experience with jazz as a form of music has been for the most part of my life highly limited.

I know jazz basically through cartoons and old movie soundtracks, period. Growing up in the late seventies and early eighties in the deep south you get Country all around you of course and rock-n-roll was essentially the music of popular culture without question, mom was single during part of the seventies so I got disco, r&b soul of that time as well. Even the blues was around here and there but despite the form started in New Orleans you know what was nowhere? Jazz.

The extent of me hearing jazz was limited to the Johnny Quest theme song by Hoyt Curtin and the Vince Guaraldi's music for the Peanuts cartoons. Oh yeah and whatever bled through from the old movies that I saw on TBS the Turner station used to primarily back in the day play movies. Seriously, it was black-n-white 60% of the day unless they were playing the later era Bewitched episodes. Btw, Samantha from Bewitched was way hot. …
