Southside Johnny, född John Lyon 4 december 1948 i Neptune, New Jersey, är en amerikansk sångare, munspelare och låtskrivare. Han är frontfigur i bandet Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes. Southside Johnny är en klassisk rock/soulsångare och bandet har ett fylligt sound med en dominerande blåssektion.
Southside Johnny kommer från New Jersey och är god vän och kollega med Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen skrev en stor del av Southside Johnnys låtar i slutet av 1970-talet. Mest känd av dessa är kanske ”Hearts of Stone”. Asbury Jukes blev sedermera ”The Jukes”. I början av 1990-talet kom skivan Better Days där Steve Van Zandt skrev och producerade de flesta låtarna. Medverkade gjorde även Springsteen och Jon Bon Jovi. Southside Johnny turnerar fortfarande flitigt.

    Seventies blues-based rock like this group is what turned me onto the pre-rock blues in the first place, so I give Johnny and his guys credit for being part of that sound.

    Are you Springsteen in disguise? I'm listening to the "Hearts of Stone" album and I could swear it sounds like Springsteen did 35 years ago. I'm happy I discovered this artist (through Last.fm recommendation), fantastic stuff!

    I've been diigin' the South since high school. Yes, the 70's. I still find the sound very unique. Rock & Roll with a horn section. "Hearts of Stone" and "The Jukes" are the classics, but don't neglect the more recent ones. "Messin' With The Blues" is down to the ground rockin' blues, especially "Looks Like Rain".
