A big week here at Slumberland HQ. Devon Williams' stunning second album is out this week, along with singles frm Big Troubles and Sarandon. We've got a lot of bands on tour now or going on tour soon, so be sure to read on for tour dates and info about forthcoming releases.

Devon Williams performs a shimmering pop music that tempers sweetness and bliss with an honest, unguarded perspective. Williams' music is informed by his broad musical knowledge and diverse tastes; while the past echoes through his tunes, his song-writing skills, strong musical voice and arrangement/production prowess mark him as a truly unique talent on the scene. The past can be a window on the present, and Williams' distinctive blend of power-pop, orchestrated soft-rock, folk-rock and lush, layered jangle-pop takes full flight on "Euphoria," his new album.

*** Crystal Stilts release long-awaited second album ***
Back in 2008, a lot of heads turned to clock Crystal Stilts' Alight of Night, their first album after a string of here-today-gone-tomorrow singles and EPs. It wasn't exactly a surprise - Crystal Stilts felt like part of a new age dawning, of underground collectives and random, crazy groups who'd rediscovered the joys of noise-pop and set about creating their own Creations - but there was something unique about Crystal Stilts, something hermetic yet gorgeous about the world they created. With their new album, In Love With Oblivion, they stretch things further still, honing their songcraft, indulging their more strung-out sides, full of elliptical verses and perfectly chiming guitars, cranky pop organs and the punkest of rhythms. …

Andrew Morrison:
Andy introduces two shows during April's schedule. His regular 3-hour show features a brand new session from progressive trance act Cygnus X-1 - his second for the show. There's exciting new (and some old) music from Sleigh Bells, Harrys Gym, Napoleon IIIrd, Red Cosmos, Dave.i.d, Trembling Blue Stars, The Horn The Hunt, Sabres of Paradise, Swans and Team Ghost, to name just a handful. Teresa introduces a Tasty Tip, Scott selects a Funky Five Minutes, and there's another competition to win a bumper bundle of CDs.Elsewhere in the schedule, Andy's Archives is back, with an hour of top tunes from ten or more years ago, randomly picked from Andy's record collection. Classic tracks come from Curve, 808 State, Aphex Twin and many more!

*** Brave Irene drop debut EP ***
Rose Melberg's musical journey began with the formation of Tiger Trap in 1992. Trading in immaculate crash-pop that was as influenced by English C86/indie-pop as it was by the US underground, Tiger Trap released a string of great records on the estimable K label which became foundation documents of US indie-pop. After that band's dissolution, Rose formed The Softies with her pal Jen Sbragia. In stark contrast to the fuzz 'n' frenzy of Tiger Trap's punk-pop attack, The Softies were a far quieter affair, just two ladies with angelic voices, softly strummed guitars and earnest, effecting tunes. …

The Indietracks team are launching an appeal to raise money to finish the Swanwick station building at the festival's railway site.

We're amazed and really grateful that the Midland Railway makes it possible for an indiepop festival to take place on their steam railway each year. It's a beautiful, perfect location for our festival and the railway staff and volunteers have always been incredibly welcoming, friendly and supportive.

As you can imagine, it takes a lot to keep the railway going each year, so we'd like to try and help out. We asked the charity how we might help and they said they'd love some help in raising money to finish their Swanwick station building (pictured above by Martin Arrand).

They've been building the station gradually since 2007 and while it's nearly complete they need a bit more money to finish the internal and external building and furnishing.

Slow Club and Everybody Was In The French Resistance…Now! have just been added to the line-up for the Indietracks festival 2010.

They will join the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Love Is All, The Primitives, Ballboy, Allo Darlin, The Pooh Sticks, Standard Fare and around 50 other indiepop bands at this year’s festival.

The festival takes part on the weekend of 23-25 July 2010 and is held in the grounds of a picturesque 1950s steam railway in Derbyshire.

Slow Club are a Sheffield DIY alternative folk-pop duo featuring Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor. Charles plays guitar and sings and Rebecca plays drums and all sorts of weird instruments, like water-filled glass bottles, spoons and the back of a wooden chair. Their acclaimed debut album, ‘Yeah So’ was released in July 2009.

Everybody Was In The French Resistance…Now! are Eddie Argos from Art Brut and Dyan Valdés from The Blood Arm. …
