"I Belong To You" will be here after everybody reading this is dead. Sold more than R. Kelly. Sold more than "I Believe I Can Fly". Will always be that way. Even when we're all dead.

And what does this have to do with Rome? I only brought up R. Kelly because it was so impressive that he outsold a legendary song like "I Believe I Can Fly"

I went to Rasputin music store, and I saw this cute Becky working behind the counter. I worked up the nerve to talk to her and then I asked if there was any good NEO-FOLK. She said "yeah, I think we have that, right this way" and she took me to this album called "Year of the Gentlman". It wasn't neo-folk it was BL*CK people music!!!! I tried to tell her that I wasn't a conformist, but she wouldn't listen! I told her to show me Rome and she showed me another BL*CK person!!!

It's pretty fucking ridiculous that some "neo-folk" band has all the images and genres and description on here, instead of the actual Rome. I guess that's just a product of Last.fm being more popular with that hipster demo than with regular people. And last.fm has been around since like 2006, so I doubt that's going to fix itself any time soon. They should just create redirects for artists with names like Rome.

what do you mean, "the actual Rome"? neofolk Rome and whichever one you are like are equally valid in being named that, one musical act can't just claim a name and have no-one else be allowed to use it. the issue isn't the demographics of last.fm, it's that this site was designed without consideration for the possibility of two artists sharing a name.

Rome listed as #3 (90s R&B artist) should be the main one. But this happens all the time on Last.fm when an artist doesn't have a unique enough name.

Rome is from like 15 years from before anybody was on Facebook. Rome the band is not. That makes the comparison moot.

Sorry, that should be around 10 years before. Rome is a late 1990s artist. Not an early 1990s artist. My bad.

Despite a strange album cover, I'd say Hyperion Machine is my best. But they are all great.

Might be the best discovery I've made in 2019, especially Flowers from Exile. I like the other stuff I've heard as well, need to listen more.

"The Dublin Sessions" release caught me by surprise and what a pleasant surprise. I even enjoy it more than the last album.

I agree that Birth of Violence is a very poppy/accessible version of Rome. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. I really liked her new album

New album is rubbish, just noize and nothing else. Rome music is better with guitar and voice, from my point of view

for some reason the latest last.fm updated fucked my scrobbled for "Flowers in Exile" and one third of them are now assigned to "Various Artists". Anyone else having the same thing happening to them?

Everything after Passage to Rhodesia has been very bleh but the new LP is killer! Happy to hear the bombastic martial sound again.

What a rich catalog of beautiful songs, nine years later and I'm still discovering sonic bliss in releases old and new.

Someone knows another neofolk artists that are not fascists or that are leftists like Jerome Reuter project Rome? In Flowers from Exile album we have a cleary influence by the anarchist/communist ideology from the spanish civil war for example.

I was reading that King Dude isn't nazi too, his last album "Music To Make War To" is great. Also I heard of that some neofolk artists like Boyd Rice are not really nazi, that's true?

Music is a political action and the artists are subjected to these interpretations and claimings.

Knowing intentions of the artist makes sense when listen to music. Even if the art can make sense in itself we need to know about the artistic movement and the intentions involved, otherwise it's just nonsense.

I think that what you said could be considered too, sometimes it's something just simple that don't need a deeper analysis. But maybe one thing have relation to another, always some philosophical hermeneutics is needed because it's part of art, aesthetics, even when it's done with simplicity.

A new album in the works to be released probably somewhere in 2020. Heard two or three songs from it live and it's pretty hard to make out what it's gonna' be like because of how different Rome tends to sound live and on CDs. One song sounded a bit like Masse Mensch Material era stuff with soft electric guitars and MMM/Confessions-style mood/melody (think Querkraft/Wir Gotter der Stadt), it was pretty damn good. Then there was Kali Yuga Uber Alles which sounded like a very angry march-style song (think an angrier Sons of Aeth) with a lot of electric guitar; it sounded almost metal and had a very anthemic chorus that was catchy in its own way despite not being "pleasant" at all (I guess it's just that people love to scream "UBER ALLES!" under any pretext). It had a lot of heavy guitars but they used them to fill in a lot of older tracks so that doesn't mean anything. The last one was a soft, guitar ballad "Slash And Burn" which was absolutely lovely.

Jerome played the last one because they ran out of songs to play and we made them return to the stage once more :P It may still change because it's still in the middle of being written but it's great so far. I have bits and parts of those tracks recorded by phone and I may upload them later if anyone is willing to take a listen despite of the crap quality.

Le ceneri di Heliodoro is a bit underwhelming. The strongest songs were already released as singles and the rest was nothing special.

Look for Boyd Rice and Friends, Boyd Rice also supports the crazy Charles Manson who have a swastika on the forehead. Also you can look for interviews of Jerome Reuter talking about him not beign a neofolk nazi and his influences like Jacques Brel.
