OUTSTANDING musician and vocalist. He is definitely my favorite half of TFF, but Curt Smith is really quite talented as well. "Tomcats Screaming Outside" I purchased when it came out in 2001 and you had to REALLY search for it to find it since it was on a virtually unknown label and I saw ZERO promotion for it upon release.....a damn shame because it is a FANTASTIC album with many great tracks!

Roland is, undeniably, the more obviously talented of the two, in the sense that he is the one we identify with as the inspired, creative genius, and like many others I have always admired his vocal/writing prowess. But isn't it always the way with pop groups that when the front man goes it alone -- listening, perhaps, to too many people flattering their ego and telling them they are the one that really matters -- that something is lost. Front man, song writer, lead singer... Yes, all of these. And immensely talented. But it's never the whole story. Maybe every Sherlock needs a Watson, every Hardy needs a Laurel, someone that provides balance and makes sense of them, anchors them somehow. I'm not saying I don't like Rolands solo work. I do. But as has been noted, the TFF chemistry is just that bit more somehow...
