Nie był to rok najgorszy. Kryzys szaleje na starym kontynencie, ceny benzyny śrubują rekordy a brak rannych policjantów na szczecińskim marszu niepodległości sprawił, że stolica grodu gryfa świadectwa patriotyzmu nie zdała. Było więc całkiem wesoło. -A co tam w muzyce, Panie? -Ano też fajnie:

Sporo w internecie krytyki na temat nowego dzieła Mastodona. Pozwolę sobie się absolutnie nie zgodzić. Bom kierunek w jaki się udali z miejsca zaakceptował oraz zuwielbiał. Mastodon AD2011: zwrot ku melodii, charakterystyczne wielogłosy, zwarte formy i napakowane pomysłami, różnorodne, świetnie brzmiące piosenki. Jest nowa moc. Jest rewelacyjna moc. Najlepsze piosenki: Curl of the Burl, Stargasm.

Se Chico Buarque aparecesse fazendo rock seria estranho. Mas ninguém se surpreenderia se Radiohead viesse com um álbum voz e violão.

Acontece que Radiohead é um tipo de banda que pode se reinventar a qualquer momento sem causar estranheza e/ou preconceito/resistência.

Há bandas/artistas que não têm problema algum não sairem de um estilo ou padrão, como Sonic Youth. Mas acho muito bom quando bandas te surpreendem, no sentido mais literal da palavra, a cada álbum.

Nesse jeito, eu citaria: R.E.M., Beck, The Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie,The Arcade Fire, Foo Fighters e muitas outras. The Beatles, pô.

A expectativa de ter um papel em branco é sempre presente a cada álbum a ser lançado dessas bandas (claro, no caso das que ainda existem).

Top 100 2011 playlist

Well, it's that time of the year again - the time when I look back on the music I have enjoyed over the past 12 months and distill it down to 60-80 minutes for no real reason aside from weird obsessiveness. Well, weird obsessiveness and hopefully some level of enjoyment on the part of those who download the resulting mix.

2011 was a pretty good year for music, overall. 2010 may have had some heavier hitters, but there were plenty of solid albums released in 2011 as well. My love affair with Scottish music continued, and this is reflected in a high percentage of Scots in the year's mix. There's also a significant chunk of Canadian acts represented, as usual. As for overall favourites, I think Diamond Mine by King Creosote & Jon Hopkins takes the crown this year. It's a beautiful gem of an album which succeeds in transporting the listener to another place entirely - in this case, a Scottish seaside village. Best listened to with headphones, and quite likely on vinyl (though I haven't gotten around to that yet). …
