19 okt 2010, 22:28 av WildPorkThis journal contains my personal favourite mellow songs.
My music taste mainly consists of different types of rock and metal. Despite metal bands perceived to make heavy and pacey songs, when they do slow it down; they seem to make the best mellow songs.
I'll keep editing the list as I remember more mellow songs, and find new ones.
My favourite mellow song of all time is probably :
Slipknot - Vermilion, Pt. 2

8 jan 2009, 13:05 av aquadoniaOkay. I only have access to this computer and my MP3's a couple times a week (I am computerless at home), and since I'm too poor for an iPod, I listen to CD's at home or on my Discman when I'm not around. (Yes. I said Discman. :oP) This naturally means that there is a lot of music that goes unaccounted for, or uncharted, here on my Last FM profile.
I decided that I'd start keeping track of what I listened to when I'm away and post about it in a weekly journal. As I track what I listen to, I try to mark the approximate start time of when I began listening to something. So far, I've been pretty good with this, but I'm on my first week. We'll see how well I keep up with that, or any of this, by March 1st. LOL
Anyway, without further ado, the first installment of...
Week 1 - January 1st - 6th, 2009
[9:30-ish PM : The Smashing Pumpkins - Machina/The Machines of God
*Note: Listened to track 3, Stand Inside Your Love, twice in a row before moving on to track 4 and the rest of the album. …

Don't let the memory of the sound drag you down.
13 jul 2007, 23:02 av eliajohaWed 11 Jul – Porcupine Tree, Pure Reason Revolution
Finally they came to Norway! Well, actually they visited us once before, as stand-ins for “The Mars Volta” under the Quart festival in 2005, but this time they didn’t arrive as stand-ins. Now Norway was a part of the “Fear of a Blank Planet” tour.
Rockefeller opened the doors at 8 o’clock, and when I arrived, an hour later, there was no queue outside. I got upstairs to the second floor, and despite a full house, I found the perfect spot! I could see the whole stage all evening!
After a short period of time, Pure Reason Revolution entered the stage. I am a huge fan, so I was looking forward to finally seeing them live. PRR delivered their stuff and played one great song after the other. And when my PRR favourite “The Twycyn / Trembling Willows” was played, followed by “Golden Clothes” accompanied by Porcupine Tree drummer Gavin Harrison, I couldn’t stop smiling. I was happy!

1. Fear of a Blank Planet
2. My Ashes
5. Way Out of Here
6. Sleep Together
7. Lightbulb Sun
8. Open Car
9. Mellotron Scratch
10. Drown With Me
11. Blackest Eyes
13. A Smart Kid
14. Mother and Child Divided
13 jun 2006, 20:08 av lindseysomeone...based on last week's top 10 artists.
1. Porcupine Tree
why i like them: steven wilson's a genius. every album this band makes is different, and still brilliant, and still recognizable as pt. plus, they're top because i got the rereleased version Stupid Dream a couple weeks ago.
song for the moment: Mellotron Scratch
random lyrics: "and i'm looking at a blank page now. should i fill it up with words somehow?"
why i like them: amazing blend of melodic, almost acoustic prog rock, alongside soul-crushing death metal. they alternate between extremes flawlessly. plus, mikael akerfeldt has probably the most amazing voice i've ever heard.
song for the moment: Isolation Years
random lyrics: "the wound in me is pouring out to rest on a lover's shore."
why i like them: i've been listening to them since middle school. it's rare to find a band this popular that's actually really excellent musically. i watched their dvd last week and it reminded me how much i like them.
19 okt 2005, 07:06 av graphxgrrlGood good good gig. What can you really say about Porcupine Tree gigs? Though, it seemed to be an older proggier crowd than I remember from the Crocodile shows, which was a bit scary in the beginning. Sitting next to me also was this guy who'd flown in from Montana for the show and had had a bit to drink beforehand--which made him terribly amusing throughout.
The set list as best I can remember, I no doubt missed a few or got the order wrong.
Don't Hate Me
So Called Friend
Arriving Somewhere but Not Here
Heart Attack in a Layby
The Start of Something Beautiful
And to fulfill your silly fangirl quotient of the night, do I ever adore Colin's dimples, and Steven looks like someone needs to take him home and feed him!
