2011 Jan26th (UK) Todays stream was 8:42 including spoken intro & quite a few seconds of applause at the end. (caption says 9:12 & I should say that the preview I've just checked sounds quite old but not so earthy as the stream that played)

Music writer Elijah Wald says in his book about pop music history that "Rhapsody In Blue" was to the 1920s (and jazz) what "Sgt. Pepper" was to the 1960s (and rock 'n roll).

Yes, this is a very decent recording. I'm always a bit ambivalent about this as a composition since it is so staccato, very rarely picking up the kind of drive that Fletcher Henderson and Jelly Roll were getting around the time this was composed (talking, here, off the top of my head). There are some very beautiful sequences, though.

What a wonderful rendition, considering when it was recorded' I've been playing this in one form or another for the last 60+ years. Shame 'Bix' was not involved!!
