Michael Jackson was the first great artist I ever heard and was my first major influence.

The Beginning: (1996-2000)
This was the first time I really started to enjoy music and when I heard Everybody (Backstreets back) by the Backstreet Boys on an Aussie music show Video Hits, about the same time as Freestyler and One Step Closer were popular, I was immediately addicted to pop music.
Their album Backstreet's Back definitely became one my favourites at that time along with, Aussie group, Human Nature's album Telling Everybody and they both continue to impress me even today.
Ricky Martin's The Cup of Life was a track I listened to every weekend before I played Soccer during this time.
I also listened to the Batman Forever soundtrack album a fair bit during this time with tracks Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me & Kiss From A Rose becoming favourites of mine and suggesting that I would enjoy a wide range of music in the future.

Rihanna - Good Girl Gone Bad (Review)

I must confess going into this review that I'm not a Rihanna fan. I have both her previous albums on my ipod, but she has always appeared to be a singles artist to me, whose albums only have a handful of notable tracks and the rest is filler. In addition, she seemed to be a record company's marketing dream (there's no denying she is charismatic, and a dream to look at), but also a puppet with little input into her own artistry.

I'm not sure if Good Girl Gone Bad represents Rihanna taking "Control" of her music, but at least it finally offers up a good album. First single "Umbrella" is an excellent introduction to the disc, with Jay-Z's average rap keeping the urban fans on lock while Rihanna spins out a seductive and addictive song. The first time I heard this song, it was alright but within a couple of plays it had grown on me tremendously. However, then something interesting occurs. Within the next 4 tracks, Rihanna veers away from urban to pop and dance beats. …

Just the top 20 singles (non album tracks) I enjoyed this past year.

#20: Sexy Love

I remember saying this was just 'So Sick' part deux but after a while it grew to be my fav from his album. The beat is just too cool.

#19: Torn

Really wasn't expecting something as good as this considering all the duds that were being released before this one. Nice first single.

#18: 4 Minutes

I actually downloaded this song back in Aug of '05 and it's still just as hot as was then.

#17: Unappreciated

Another surpising track. I had written Cherish off as a gimick group but this song and their album proved me wrong.

#16: Take Me As I Am

One of Mary's best songs period. Perfect production.

#15: Lost Without You

I am sooooo glad that this song is FINALLY catching on with people. It's taken him over a year to get this album out and to see people feelin' it is wonderful.

#14: Kick, Push

My anthem of the year. Lupe is hands down the best new emcee.

Alright its the End of another fast year... and so I put together my top 20 songs....They are basically songs... including singles, album tracks and unreleased tracks. Overall I tried to have one song per artist on the countdown.

20.I Wanna Love You
This song was played on every radio station on the county and my initial response of this song is "How did T-pain get a record deal?" Soon I found out that it was Akon. It eventually grew on me... infectious hook.

19. Stand Up Guy
I love to dance.... and Swizz laid down a nice otherwordly track for T.I. on his cd that I can "wind it up!" on. lol

18. Good Luck Charm
It's Just Something to do with their seductive, but warm and harmonic voices that just run a shiver down my spine everytime I hear them sing! I love JE!

17. Unfaithful
Beautiful music, a strained note here and there but wonderful concept (lyrics in part from Ne-yo), Kind of twisted but great single choice for Rihanna!

Ne-Yo's Sexy Love is probably my favorite at the moment, but running a close second is Beyonce's Irreplaceable, Listen, and Ring the Alarm.


Another one that I've just discovered and really enjoy is Avant's Lie About Us

Akon's Smack That Ass is good but only because of Em being in it, personally I can't stand Akon's whiny, nasally vocals.

I definitely love anything by Pitbull, he is just the sexiest ever.
