Mobb Deep består av hiphop-duon Kejuan ”Havoc” Muchita och Albert ”Prodigy” Johnson från det enorma bostadsprojektet Queensbridge i Queens, New York, och är förmodligen mest kända för de framgångsrika album som producerades under mitten och slutet av 90-talet. Det gäller primärt The Infamous men också Hell on Earth och platina-säljande Murda Muzik. Några mindre kända verk är Prodigys soloprojekt H.N.I.C, Infamy, Free Agents: The Murda Mixtape och Amerikaz Nightmare. Mobb Deeps texter beskriver, och många gånger glorifierar, ett liv fyllt av gängrelaterat våld och droger i ett av New Yorks fattigaste områden.

Duon har haft dispyter med flera rappare, bland annat med 2Pac i ”kriget” mellan de rivaliserande skivbolagen Death Row Records och Bad Boy Records från västkusten respektive östkusten under mitten av 90-talet. Som svar på 2Pacs ”diss” Hit ‘em Up gjorde duon Drop a Gem on ’em på Hell on Earth. Låten gavs aldrig ut som singel på grund av 2Pacs död. Andra artister som har attackerat medlemmarna i Mobb Deep i sin musik är Nas och Jay-Z. Tidigare gjorde gruppen ett par låtar med Nas.

Havoc och Prodigy har bytt skivbolag ett flertal gånger under sin relativt långa karriär, och tillhör just nu G-Unit Records med vilka man släppte det senaste albumet Blood Money i maj 2006.

    Prodigy used to be so raw, guy fell off though. Black Cocaine doesnt hurt their legacy though, him and Havoc are still one of the hardest mofos from NYC.
