Mike OldfieldThe whole story began in around 1997 when a good friend of mine from school became a fan of Mike Oldfield's (MO) music. I didn't bother for MO much for I thought his music was boring mainstream (at that time I had only known 'Moonlight Shadow', really, which was played on the radio sometimes. Interestingly, 'Moonlight Shadow' was a song that we sang with our teacher at grammar school ;o) ).
Although I had never seen 'The Exorcist', which features the probably best known theme written by MO, I still knew Tubular Bells (TB) partly from some C64 sound demo (ah, those were the days!). So when I eventually listened to TB II at my friend's place, the main theme (from Sentinel) sounded familiar to me, and I instantly liked it very much.
Quite some time passed until I finally began to overcome the prejudice mentioned above, which enabled me to liking TB II enough to purchasing it myself.
But the bias was still there, and I went through some cycles of borrowing MO albums from my friend, listening to them…
