Into a dream I took a turn and promised to return
The way we were, the way we met, the way I lit your cigarette
The way it trailed into a stream and lay down between

dunno why... but this has just a ting of creepiness to it..... his voice seems to be a bit off kilter and then with the oddly Disney-ish background music, it all creates just a moment of someone who's not quite all there.... the mood continues with Endlessly following right after which has the high pitch chorus mice... it's just a perfect twist on what could have been a really straightforward (and boring) piece of music

This sounds oddly like that song from either Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Charlie and The Choloate Factory (im not sure if it is one of these films, but the melody is in my head)

Few tracks are quite as effective in bringing me to a complete, spine-tinglingly blissful moment of weakness. Spot on!

Sorry to say it took the Instrumentals version to make me realize how much I love this song... but wow. and the entire album is fantastic. Desert island stuff for me.

Sweet sadness thinking of you. You have to choose a side to lose and divide yourself in two. How can I forget you?

I've always liked the Motown vibe of the rhythm section on this...the tambourine...the drum pattern. And that wonderful little glockenspiel lick at the end...

@AADDFFGGVVXX: yeah, every live recording of this song that I've heard is astounding. The studio version is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded, too, but not as "powerful".

Sounds a bit like David Bowie, actually.
