Biografi

Megadeth är ett amerikanskt thrash metal-band bildat 1983. Bandet har sålt närmare 25 miljoner skivor och är således en av de mest framgångsrika musikgrupperna inom metal. Bandets frontfigur, grundare, låtskrivare och enda ständige medlem är Dave Mustaine. Deras maskot, som figurerar på de flesta skivomslag, heter Vic Rattlehead.

Megadeth utgav sitt första album 1985 och var en pionjär inom den amerikanska thrash metal-scenen. Ett hinder för framgången var dock Mustaines drogproblem, och som en följd, att bandmedlemmarna kom och gick. En tillnyktrad Mustaine och en ny banduppställning kunde i slutet av 1980-talet och början av 1990-talet skapa Megadeths mest ansedda album. På 1990-talet fortsatte bandet att vara aktivt men övergick stundtals till lättare former av heavy metal. 2002 splittrades Megadeth till följd av en skada som Mustaine ådragit sig, men återförenades igen 2004, och utgav ytterligare två album som musikaliskt låg nära bandets trash metal-rötter.

Megadeth räknas till The Big Four of Thrash tillsammans med Metallica, Slayer och Anthrax. Megadeth utmärkte sig tidigt genom att satsa på teknisk färdighet, bland annat avancerade gitarrsolon, och högt tempo (varför många av bandets album klassas som speed metal). Karaktäristiskt är även Mustaines arga sång och nihilistiska texter.

    The problem Dave has is that megadeth fans have standards they expect and super collider may be an upbeat generic fun rock hit attempt but to deth fans it's like someone has smacked them in the face with a rusty anvil if a mediocre 'I think I'll take a breather' song comes from Mustaine. Solid releases with mere 2 year gaps have gave way to unrealistic expectations for a chunk of the fanbase imo. It's impossible to keep those high standards with every release doing mid paced metal with the occasional thrasher, Dave will want to try something new.

    Not too impressed with the samples, yes 30 seconds doesn't tell the story but it shows a chunk of the song. Burn sounded worse than the title track lol. SC ain't that bad a song taken at face value but it doesn't fit with the last three or four records, this is a departure I guess. Can't say anything bad about the majority of modern megadeth. Some tracks sounded interesting like The Blackest Crow, Off The Edge and The Beginning of Sorrow. Kingmaker sounds better than the snippets of the other supposedly aggressive Don't Turn Your Back and Built For War. Get the goddamn thin lizzy cover off the album too, bonus track for that!

    From the samples it sounds like something between Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings. Nothing wrong with that (the tracks sound pretty good, I liked Cryptic, I liked Risk), I still think the title track is terrible though (the vocals in the verses are just bad... WHEN YOU FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL) :P
