Catherine ”Kate” Bush, född 30 juli 1958 i Bexleyheath i dåvarande Kent (nu i Storlondon), är en brittisk sångerska och låtskrivare.

Bush, som upptäcktes av Pink Floyds gitarrist David Gilmour, slog igenom med låten Wuthering Heights 1978 som var inspirerad av Emily Brontës roman Svindlande höjder. Hon var väldigt produktiv fram till 1993, då hon tog paus bland annat för att resa och föda barn, innan hon släppte ett nytt album 2005.

Hon har inte turnerat sedan 1979 då hon genomförde sin enda turné Tour of Life. Anledningarna till att hon inte genomförde fler turnéer är inte klara. Några tror att det beror på att hon lider av extrem flygrädsla. Andra säger att det är för att hennes unge ljusstekniker Bill Duffield omkom, i samband med ett framträdande på Pool Arts Center, endast 21 år gammal. Bill ärades senare i två låtar, Blow Away från skivan Never for Ever och Moments of Pleasure från skivan The Red Shoes.

Hennes musik karaktäriseras av att vara mycket genomarbetad och ha stora konstnärliga ambitioner, samtidigt som den är tillgänglig för en bredare publik. Kate Bush har influerat många andra artister, bland annat Tori Amos.

    Then you realize that this album was basically written by a 15-16 year old kid. < thats not even the reason why I regard The Kick Inside as one of her best albums. It is incredible that she made it that young though. Im 17 and couldn't write **** compared to even her worst songs.

    I can see that The Kick Inside would have some mediocre moments to the uninitiated, but then you realize that this album was basically written by a 15-16 year old kid. There are demos of the songs she did as a teen, and they are the same songs. There was not some producer behind the scenes making all the music for her as you see with most teen musicians. When you think about what this album accomplished, it's hard not to not be amazed by it. I mean, it's not like it'd even be bad if Kate weren't a teen. The songs are mostly solid either way! That aspect just makes it more legendary.

    I'm not saying the album is weak, but the albums with songs like Breathing, Symphony in Blue, In the Warm Room, Egypt, Houdini, Get out of My House, Cloudbusting, and the whole of the Ninth Wave Suite, are better.
