5 jan 2013, 01:18 av EglantinetjeI confess: I'm obsessed with music and everything there is to know about it. I won't ever pretend to know everything about it, but I do have an insatiable hunger for music knowledge: from whole musical movements to trivial facts about my favorite bands; I love it all!
On my quest for music knowledge I came across this great three-hour-long documentary:
I want to start of by saying that the title is a bit misleading. You might think this is only the story about Kraftwerk and maybe two or three other bands that were influenced by Kraftwerk. But it isn't! It's a comprehensive look at the German music scene of the late sixties (referred to as the "krautrock" scene).
It starts of by looking at the early Krautrock bands like Amon Düül II, Can, Popol Vuh, Tangerine Dream; followed by a closer look at their influences like Pierre Schaeffer, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Louis and Bebe Barron - who wrote the first entirely…

Monkey With Car Keys is an electronic music side project of Irish soundscapers Síol Na Gréine, presenting a full-length album for free download @ hiarctow.com.
"Filament in Strata is a bit of an eclectic collection, mixing DnB, IDM, ambient techno and even the odd shade of synthpop. Unifying the whole thing is a sense of structure as an emergent fact of these gradually increasing layers in the electronic 'orchestration'; similar maybe to Austrian metal band Summoning but with a poppier, snappier sense of melody.
Somehow I want this all to express some of the delight and dumb fun I get out of just seeing the little things in the world and thinking about them in the bigger complex picture called reality."

22 sep 2011, 23:17 av zorzynekand so I was stocked to the Hausen und zurück. took a cab home and listened to Tina Turner singing Foreign Affairs. It felt surreal and funny.
Gals and boys lemme tell ya that it was the night on both side of cosmic avant gardening with late mr. Karlheinz Stockhausen.
actually it was 3 separate gigs by musikFabrik peforming pieces from KLANG.
gig 1: NATürLicHE DAUErN (nr 1, 4, 8, 9, 10, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22) most of it was utter & complete bullshit. something so painfully predictable and idiotic I almost thought I was listening to Morton Feldman. there were few decent moment but for the most of the time it was a drag, uninventif and yawnish. however it was all Stock's fault because it was played very tight, crystal clean and pianists were as focused as its possible. it was strange to see so dull music played so well. some old dude sitting in my row took a nap. lucky bastard.
gig 2: PArADiES, UrANTiA, OrvONTON. PArADiES was supercool. …

Cryosyncopy is back with a new album, the first in two years for the project. Black Ocean combines the moody, spacious, picturesque sound of debut album Recollection of Lost Fragments with the gritty cyberpunk beats and structures of side project Mushin. The effect is like listening to the sinister, technology pervaded world of William Gibson's Neuromancer novel.

1 apr 2011, 16:55 av music_scholarI keep here a list of my neighbours over time.
1. discover new users with similar music taste
2. research how last.fm's neighbouring system works really
- compatibility with users (over time)
- Last.fm Reverse Neighbours
13th April: 50 neighbours with 368 plays
8th April: 7 neighbours with 294 plays
4th April: 3 neighbours with 130 plays
1st April: 2 neighbours with 119 plays
e.g. to consider:
- the neighbours list at begin will be unreliable (e.g. too few plays or neighbours changing listening habit): but I do not want to lose them for later
- below stats are a little bit vague since I do not list all artists in detail: but that can be generated later automatically
368 plays (with 234 artists)
library contains: 629 artists
