A week after my last great gig in Ann Arbor, we were back again for another! While I did see Murder By Death not too long ago, I was really looking forward to this show because I intended to arrive early enough to actually see them this time. And I did! Too early, if anything, as the doors opened a half hour late and we were left standing in the cold for longer than I would have liked. Still, it allowed us to sell our spare ticket and snag some good seats, so things worked out alright.
Perhaps to make up for the late doors, the show got started within 15 minutes or so. The first band, Brighton, MA was pretty good. Fairly standard indie rock stuff with a few danceable tracks and vocals that were somewhere between Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. Not unpleasant by any means, and that's all I ask out of opening bands these days. Their short set flew by quickly, and next up were Javelins who were also quite good! They played an even shorter selection of songs than the first opener…
