  • Sonata Arctica top5 part I: The Wolf Songs

    25 okt 2007, 15:32 av Silq

Hookay, here I go. First thing I'd like to mention is that I don't know shit about music. I've listened to it for all my life VERY hardcore, something around 100 songs per day I think. Still, I mistake keyboard solos for guitar solos sometimes and dunno anything about playing any instrument. I like singing though, although I fail at it. By the way, lyrics are VERY important to me in this kind of music so, expect to hear continuous babbling about them instead of the melody.

To the point then. Sonata Arctica is my all-time favourite band and I've listened to it for basically all my life except for the first 10 years I didn't understand anything about anything. That's right; I've listened to SA since Ecliptica came out in 1999. I didn't understand half of the lyrics back then but that didn't bother me. I've grown and they sure have as well.

Seriously, to the point :D gonna start this series I'm planning to write with my own personal opinions about the "wolf songs". …
  • Ends and Beginnings - as I return from Europe, Jani departs

    16 aug 2007, 22:42 av marxeonist

I've been back from my three week trip Europe for a day now. If you are one of the Germans I was fortunate enough to meet at Wacken and reading this, then feel free to pm me or email me with this username at gmail dot com. Everyone else, expect a journal of some kind, which will hopefully be up quicker than the Russia one, and be of a similarly quality. I'll get working on it soon.

I feel that I should mark the end of an era, with Jani Liimatainen's departure from Sonata Arctica. (I leave for a few weeks and everything falls apart, it seems...) As the guitarist of the first metal band that I discovered myself, and almost definitely still my favourite one, he has always been special to me. I am disappointed that I won't be able to see him perform later this year, and whilst much of the regret I feel is probably more due to other pretty major things on my mind at the moment, I won't pretend that it doesn't exist - that would be to underplay my regard for him and the rest of the band. …
