Halls album Ark, aside from boasting some the nicest cover art ive ever seen, is an unbelievably pretty sounding album that manages to combine elements of dream pop, cold electro, ambient and even subtle hints of dubstep + 2step. The man behind the project (named Sam Howard) also has a lovely haircut.

28 dec 2012, 11:48 av electrophile8882012 has been an exceptional year; the best year since records began. Ten of the albums have received 4.5 stars and above, whereas in most years that might be something like four albums. That has made the top 10 fairly easy actually, just a case of getting the order sorted out.
There has been some discussion this year about EPs. That is, do EPs get to make the year-end list? The final consensus was yes: where else do EPs go? However, in this year, there have been two exceptional EPs, worthy of the top ten. This has got me thinking some more. It doesn't seem right to bump two albums, in a year of such brilliant albums. As a result, I have done a top twelve this year. That way, you can have a top ten albums if you so want.
The Crystal Castles album came out late in the year, and for a short time I thought about making it number one. But then I played the Burial EP again, and I was reminded what a work of genius it is. I would go as far as saying that it's probably the most…
