theatmosphere's comment seems remarkable. "Haven't listened to this guy, ...he sounds like a backward-minded moron." I would have been more sympathetic if he'd put some links to EW quotes. I wonder if Ben has actually written anything more? I think this is him. http://uk.linkedin.com/pub/benjamin-bland/33/81b/9b

Haven't listened to this guy, but having heard his views on experimentalism as opposed to tradition, I have to say he sounds like a backward-minded moron.

His profile looks like Sawyer from Lost. In fact, I checked him out precisely because I thought he was Sawyer from Lost. That'd be cool if he was Sawyer from Lost. I don't even like Sawyer all that much, but I thought the prospect of him making music sounded interesting.

I freaking love Eric Whitacre. He's a musical genius in every right, and deserves a lot more credit than he receives. Words cannot describe the euphoria one feels whilst listening to his masterpieces. I want to marry him, despite him already being married!! Hah.

He's like a rock star of avant-garde composers it seems like. It's weird. I love his work though.

He certainly has his own style, as one can quickly recognize by listening to some of his songs, especially the choir arrangements. They’re quite different from those of other composers, extremely atmospheric, tight non-trivial chords, containing many subtle nuances and using dynamics a lot. I think I fell in love with his style when my choir began singing Sleep. Goose bumps all over! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9shXm0cIeEY

Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening is one of those most beautiful pieces I have ever heard. I like the words from Frost's poem to the music much better than those in Sleep, though Sleep is very good too. =]

The choir in which my sister used to sing performed a lot of his music... It takes me away every time I hear it, it doesn't get old, it doesn't wear out, it doesn't fade.
