Big fan of Slint, but not the band that comes to mind when I think of these guys. Saw them open for Iceburn back in the early 90's.. both were great. I could always tell metal was a big influence on Anderson.. Fine by me. He was wearing a Deicide t-shirt the night of the show if that tells you anything.
Saw them in the basement of a middle school in Long Island, NY, probably around 1995 or so. They made friends with some local homeless guy, whom they invited up on stage to sing during an instrumental song. He just made up some lyrics for about 45 seconds, then tried to stage dive on to the 7 or 8 kids who were watching them play. I was a big show, but 99% of the kids there were there to see a local tough guy hardcore band ("Vision of Disorder" aka VOD) and hung out outside during Engine Kid's set. Fun times!
