All direct pre-orders were shipped last week, so keep an eye
out for a package from us.
Damu The Fudgemunk's latest record, Supply For Demand, is
available at the following locations for purchase on VINYL, CD or
download. Also note: we are personally sold out of the bonus 7" but
some other retailers may still have it in stock.
Again, thx to everyone for the support. I wish I didn't have
to say it, but if you got your CD or get it in the next couple of
days, PLEASE DO NOT post it on zshare, megaupload, rapidshare,
sharebee, or anywhere else for free download. No password. Retail.
Supply For Demand, Damu's latest release will be available
worldwide on Tuesday November 23rd. "DC Joint" is not your typical
Damu production. The beat isn't jazzy and is actually sort of
chaotic ... and the lyrics aren't what you may have come to expect
to hear from Damu. He's rhyming in great detail about something
very personal to him; his hometown of Washington DC.
Check out the lyrics from "DC Joint" ... Links include
additional detail on the numerous references Damu makes to various
locations and facts about his city.
Check this out. Another 7 minutes of Grap Luva on the SP1200
at Damu's studio. This guy has been sitting on some serious beats
to say the least.
LAST WEEK'S CONTEST& NEW CONTEST
details are in the comments
Other than that...
Kinda busy this week, but more Damu and Supply For Demand
content is coming later this week and/or early next week. It's an
exciting and very busy time. Damu is already working on the next
releases. My priority this week is getting everyone's orders
shipped (ASAP). Today I dropped off all of Fat Beats wholesale
orders and shipped HHV their copies. Tomorrow through Thursday I'll
be packaging and shipping all direct orders. I'm trying to have em
all shipped by Wednesday, but worst case scenario, they ALL will be
out the door by Thursday. I'll post in the comment section here
when they start shipping.
Supply For Demand - November 23rd.
Oh yeah... Snippets of all songs on Supply For Demand are now
iTunes if you wanna get a preview. If you already bought it, I
don't listen to the
snippets, so you go in with fresh ears. Your choice.
Here it is. You've seen the videos and have heard Damu
mention this one from time to time on this blog, and now it's ready
and available for free download. What do you think? IMO It's a
monster of a track with so much going on, but somehow everything is
so well mixed and arranged that it just works our perfectly. Really
great work, Damu... You should be proud of you skills and ability
to make something on this level.
Please feel free to share and
repost this song anywhere in any way you feel appropriate.
If you repost it, please use the ALT link or host it wherever you
see fit, because after the weekend we may take the direct mp3 link
down if it slows our sites down.
Big thanks to
DJ Premier, Al Lindstrom,
Tony Touch and Statik Selektah for the support on our record and
playing Damu's music on the radio waves at Sirius XM Radio. Primo
played Don't Do It on his show last Friday, Statik played Bright
Side Remix tonight and Al & Tony Touch are gonna throw The
Bright Side RMX in the mix next week.
for Supply For Demand is now active, hit that image at the upper
right corner of this page if you wanna grab a copy. You know the
deal with that, the records will go fast, so don't wait too long.
Most of you know how this works by now:
Share the song, and let us know where and how you did it.
Send the link to your post on facebook, twitter, or any forums
you frequent to
Just a quick heads up: we're gonna post the Bright Side Remix
(Vocal Version) here for free download on Friday. The beat is just
crazy. We'll also start taking pre-orders at that time. All orders
from us directly WILL ship prior to the release date. The first 160
vinyl orders will include the 7" bonus. HHV and Fat Beats will also
have the 7" for those who frequent those retailers.
Regarding last week's promo contest: The winner has been
randomly selected and notified. Congrats to Kyle S. and
THANKS to everyone who
participated. We'll start a new contest tomorrow when we share the
Bright Side Remix vocal version.
http://redefinitionrecords.com for the full tracklist and all
other details. We went all out and pressed up a bonus 7" called
"More Supplies" as you see here, which features an exclusive 7"
track called "Wonka Beat 7," the Bright Side OG mix, and 2
instrumentals that we couldn't fit on the full length... This 7"
will be included with the first 300 vinyl orders and will be
available exclusively via our own
redef store and likely at hhv.de for our overseas friends.
We'll start taking pre-orders shortly (probably by the end of next
week). You'll also notice that we kinda event went "green" with the
packaging being printed on recycled material.
Let's run another
contest... we did this a few weeks ago and it went pretty well. It
helps us with promo and we get to give away some exclusive stuff.
That's a win/win. Here we go... Repost the below video on your
twitter, facebook, blog, or any forum you visit and send the link
entered to win (make sure the subject reads SUPPLY PROMO 1). The
contest will end the next time we post a video here at wonkabeats,
at which time one winner will be randomly selected and notified via
one winner, and at that
time we'll start another contest. We'll do these contests from now
until a week or two after the album comes out. As for the prize for
this particular contest? Hmmm... You know that photo we used for
Do It single? We initially shot a few scenes with those
floppy disks that didn't make the cut for the video. We'll give
away one of those floppies to the winner.
Note: If you enter the
contest, rest assured that we will NEVER share your info, or send
you junk mail. Personally, I HATE junk mail (who doesnt?), and I
especially cant stand getting unsolicited emails from foolish
rappers who steal other people's email lists and send mass emails
without BCCing the recipients! Smarten up guys. Before I start
ranting, lemme get back on track: your info is safe with us and we
wont even add you to our mailing list, unless you sign up on your
own... Speaking of which, if you made it this far, you'll be happy
to hear that sometime before the album drops, I'll send something
exclusive out to those who are on the Redef mailing list, most
likely a behind the scenes video of some sort. If you already
signed up back when we launched Overtime, you're still on the list.
If not, the subscription box is towards the upper right hand side
of this page.
Anyway, we're really looking forward to getting this record
out there. More videos and music are on the way...
Also, for those still waiting on
Demand news - As soon as I have a test pressing that meets our
approval, we'll set and announce a release date, as well as the
We have a few surprises on deck... If you're not on our
mailing list, I reccomend signing up. We rarely send emails but
moving forward we're gonna start doing some exclusive content and
contests for those on the list. Hit the box in the upper right
corner of this site.
Backstory: Damu came up to NY from DC last weekend to visit
some friends and also so we could shoot some promo clips for Supply
For Demand. Of course he couldn't help himself and ended up
spending a lot of time and money in a couple record stores.
This video was shot on Saturday October 2nd at Funkadelic
Dan Love (of "fromdabricks" for those who remember his website)
came through and did quick photoshoot, so I gotta say thank to him
for always being consistent and reliable. The interview audio
throughout the clip is a mixed bag because the internal mic on my
Nikon camera is VERY weak and also because Damu is a low talker in
general. I ended up having to use the Yamaha 2G recorder that we
placed on the floor to capture the drums for everything, but it
worked out well enough. I did the best I could with the sound, but
I did end up having to push the gain a but higher than I would have
My opinion? This guy is THE man when it comes to drum
programming nowadays. I think this video shows you how much Damu
really studies the art of production and also how humble he can be.
You're not a drummer, Damu? Really? OK...
Finally had free time to make a new beat. Decided to do this.
Same swing of original, but colder.
Also the new Y LP (recording) is only one song away from
done. After that I'll be mixing the tracks. Before I give up the Y
record you'll have to check Supply for Demand (this fall) which
features the current Y single in rotation "Don't Do It". Only a
matter of time because we approved the masters last week. Stay
tuned. Gonna knock out some more work and next post I'll give the
in depth progress report.
Dope new material from the ever elusive Grap Luva. You guys
should know who Grap is by now, and if you dont ... "Stop Fakin
Jax" and do your homework. Let's hope we hear more from the
"younger soul brother" in the near future. Damu shot some video
footage of Grap playing beats and sharing some stories while making
this song. I'll edit some of the footage and try to post it next
week. Til then, let us know what you think of this one and have a
