Cult of Luna (grundat 1998) är ett post/doom metal-band från Umeå. Albumet Somewhere Along the Highway vann P3 Guld-priset 2006 som årets metalalbum. Juryns motivering löd ”För viljan och modet att utveckla metalgenren och ge den nya dimensioner. Det är utan tvekan 2006 års Rock/metalalbum.”

    Salvation is probably the toughest to crack, although it took me a lot longer to really get into what was underneath all the heaviness of The Beyond. Their new album is probably the one I'm most anticipating right now

    Salvation sounds weak to me because it doesn't seem to know where it's going. It's just lost in itself in a sort of transition from their early sound to their current sound. I think they found their groove with Somewhere Along the Highway, which is fantastic.

    Salvation is probably my favourite... it's the most unearthly to me. All their albums are pretty much on a level though. Eternal Kingdom is the weakest purely because its songs could easily have been more fleshed-out and expansive.

    It's really hard to say which album is best, but I still say 'Salvation' is the weakest. Having discovered them with 'The Beyond', 'Salvation' just was nowhere near heavy enough for me at the time. They've been getting better since then though, 'Somewhere Along the Highway' and 'Eternal Kingdom' are both fantastic and certainly up there with 'The Beyond', and maybe even better than the first album.

    First one and the last two for me, mainly. All are quite inconsistent, in fact... Still, it's a band whose best moments are so godly that they make up for the boring parts even when they're aplenty.

We have been working intensively on 6 songs during the past weeks. The compositions are done and the details are falling into place.
