Stormin Norman by 808 State - can you hear the tribute to this song in that one? In the bassline, toward the end... great sense of humour, the Mancs have :)

Meh, all downhill after that spare and haunting first minute. The last four minutes sound to me like an outtake from Closer-era Joy Division. Which isn't a good thing, as I'm not exactly a huge fan of Closer. And look: I realize that burying the lyrics in the mix the way they do suggests the lyrics aren't all that important, and I sorta agree that lyrics aren't all that important in popular music. Still, I don't want you to sound freaking bored when you're singing those lyrics. You can sound tired or disinterested or maybe even affectless--but please, not bored. Sounding bored without being boring is a tricky proposition, and I'm not sure the Crispies can pull it off.
