    I'd just like to drop by and state that this is pretty much one of the best albums ever. If anyone listens to "slowcore" or anything similar and they haven't heard this yet, they're doing it wrong.

    lets be honest kids...Spiderland is so good that every album post-WWII pales in comparison white birch is great tho

    Codeine > Slint I love both bands, but when compared... it just seems like Slint uses dissonance and general weirdness just for the sake of it.

    How intertwined were the directions/ sounds of Slint and Codeine? Codeine have a much more 'human' sound (though barely approaching emotional warmth), whereas Slint's clever, compelling music leads one up diversionary alleys. I love Slint and Codeine and to me, the Dozer, they are pretty much interdependent. The man stands proud on the hill, faces the gathering clouds and decrees 'One cannot have Slint without Codeine! One cannot have Codeine without Slint!'. The Dozist replies 'no matter the gulf in sound, I feel your pain and will stand by you'. Together we stand, the man and the Dozer and we await the sweaty embrace of the multitude.
