AstuteClass Can't believe the people shocked at Phil Collins' talent. You must read YouTube comments for later Genesis work where Peter Gabriel worshippers slate him as talentless. I love Peter Gabriel and think he's one of the gods of music, but I know that Phil Collins is equally as godly in terms of musicianship, and demonstrably so.

Drazba wyce-bill bruford only did one tour with genesis then moved on to u.k. etc.. - chester thompson(ex- Zappa -etc) toured extensively with genesis for several years after-he's no slouch- as i ve heard, thompson's (much to my surprise) here in nashville at belmont university. phil was quite the stud drummer at one time

Genesis-girl I am so happy to hear this again - really shouldn't have got rid of the turntable, all this vinyl sitting around doing nothing, including several Brand X LPs. What a fantastic album this is!!

Phil was the 2nd Genesis drummer, from 1971 approx. Brand X was formed in 1976 and did 3 or 4 good albums in the late seventies, this being the first. This one in particular showcases what Phil was capable of . Most only know him today for his later dross. I bought this in 1977 .

wycedriver So let me get this straight. Phil was with Genesis AND Brand X concurrently/prior to the solo trash, er, music? I was under the impression that Phil was the 2nd or 3rd drummer for Genesis, he and Bill Bruford did drum duty on tours. Is any of this correct???? What year did this Brand X album come out? Please enlighten me, I was not old enough during either band's heydey to know any better.

Dude...I've watched your youtube vids...you need to work on your chops and your professional career before you start rippin' on others. Having a giant 12 piece kit with 14 cymbals doesn't make you a good drummer...it simply means you have money to spend. As already pointed out, yes, this WAS Phil Collins, not Kewood. Get your facts straight...and while you're at it, get a metronome and try working on your time.

'Fraid Brand X was not pre-Genesis days for Phil Collins: it was his pre-solo years. And yes, the version of Nuclear Burn from the album Unorthodox Behavior does feature Phil Collins on drums. I have the album on vinyl and CD, and the write-up on AllMusic.com backs this up, as well. Kenwood Dennard was featured on the albums Livestock, X-Trax, Timeline, and Microcosm, all being compilations including live performances, where Dennard filled in for Collins. And BTW, Chester Thompson (an excellent drummer of whom I'm a big fan) was the drummer for Genesis only during their live performances. In the studio it was all Collins.
