Yeah Adele and Billy Joel do it well but Dylan does it best.

adele destroyed the pain that is in this song. dylan's torn voice is the essence of the song.

The storms are raging on the rollin’ sea and on the highway of regret. The winds of change are blowing wild and free... you ain’t seen nothing like me yet.

This is a pretty good song, but at least somewhat overrated, and it doesn't really fit on the Time Out of Mind album. It would have worked better as a single or new track on a compilation or something.

So many covers for this song but only dylan's version can make me feel like really in love <33 such a phenomenal song lyrically & musically it's just superb.

dylan's version is like he's singing to his children (deep and sincere) and adele's is like she's singing to some lover she can't get over because she lacks character (cheesy)

hey people... c'mon, it's just song! and that man is a songwriter. it's part of his his profession. apart of being a performer too. he knows how to write songs like this. and they're meant do be sung and be covered by other performer. like old folk tunes. so don't bash that adele. :-)

All those dumb people sing it on shows like American Idol, X-Factor and all that other crap. It's so paradox! Do they even know it's a Bob Dylan-song!??!

I saw him play it first song in concert at Sheffield a few yrs ago....great. His own little joke I guess, with Adele version just getting popular. Had played House of Rising sun at Newcastle previous night

I am listening to the original for the first time in years. And all the covers I've heard; this cuts so deep in its unadorned, raw and unsentimental frankness. A killer cut. Thank you, Bob.

One of my friends was shocked when I told him Dylan wrote this. He said "I thought he only wrote lyrics that dont make sense". I've since set him straight.

I heard the Garth Brooks version and was surprised that it wasn't bad. Nothing special, but not annoying.

This song seems to have been covered ad nauseum recently by various soft rock artists. Amazing songwriting, but for me the original Dylan version has an edge that the blander covers don't have. Brilliant.

How many? I doubt that anyone knows ;) Nevertheless I don't care how many covers there are of this song, Dylan's version is still the best!

This almost always makes me cry. Fucking gorgeous. Not typical of Bob, sure, but so heartfelt. This is what a love song should be.
