Continuing with this week's look at interesting lists & tools, we have here the 2:42 Playlist. You can see by the date the author originally posted it earlier this year that I've been saving this one for over three months. (I like to save resources for themes, sometimes, rather than always timely...)
Today's selection is one of the songs that I have that's 2:42 in length, and I chose it because it's probably the oldest 2:42 song that I have in my collection. It's either that or Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode. Both were released in 1958: "Johnny B. Goode" was released March 31, but I don't know when today's selection was released. (Help me out if you know...)
Anyway, I also tipped in favor of it for two other reasons. (1) It simply highlights my love of blues roots, and (2) Stevie Ray Vaughn's cover of it (almost exactly twice as long as the original) is one of my favorite SRV tracks.
