The Origins of The Stoner Genre.

This list is still in the works people. It is in no way finished and more Bands will be added from many different countries from the late 60's and early to mid 70's.

Over the years and decades they have managed to progress from totally unknown to painfully obscure. In spite of all that… they are still together, with the original lineup intact. Still making meaningful music in the 21st century, this veteran group of jammers is also proud of their vast legacy of classic twisted insanity recorded back in olden analogue times.

Black Sabbath- Black Sabbath Black Sabbath is an English heavy metal band from Birmingham, originally comprising Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass), and Bill Ward (drums). In the early ’70s they were the first to pair heavily distorted, sonically dissonant blues-rock.

A Gathering of Promises by Bubble Puppy

Its an old story. A bunch of talented musicians get together and form a band. They find a groove and become the band that everybody has got to see. They get signed by a label and then... the label completely hoses them. And so goes the story of Bubble Puppy.

Years ago,the AMG review of Piper at the Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd asked whether there had ever been a stronger opening to a maiden album than the Astronomy Domine. Hot Smoke and Sasafrass here is every bit as good.

This album was recorded in 1968 - just as psychedelic rock was splintering into prog rock, heavy metal, psychedelic folk, cosmic cowboy, and a dozen other directions. You can hear all of those things in this album. Yet the album never sounds fractured. Everything is different but it all fits together in a single cohesive sound. Every song has a suprise, going someplace you didn't expect.

Hot Smoke and Sasafrass was the single. Other highlights include I've Got to Reach You and Road to St. Stephens.
