What was your favourite live show?

Mine was seeing Porcupine Tree on The Incident tour, with King's X opening: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/porcupine-tree/2009/house-of-blues-boston-ma-63d786bf.html

Second best was probably either Opeth in NY on the Evolution XX tour: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/opeth/2010/terminal-5-new-york-ny-6bd48ebe.html

or Umphrey's McGee in Boston back in February: http://www.phantasytour.com/um/shows.cgi?showID=1749

    http://www.last.fm/event/1368989+Anamanaguchi+at+Santos+Party+House+on+9+January+2010
Anamanaguchi, Math the Band and Peelander-Z

    or

    http://www.last.fm/event/1429976+Math+the+Band+at+Death+By+Audio+on+6+March+2010
Lima Research Society (or just "Lima", not sure)
    The Eskalators
    Uncle Monsterface
    Math the Band
    Peelander-Z

These were like 6 bucks each and they had Peelander-Z, which is probably the best live band ever, with audience participation and various crazy antics.

Of the three I've been to, I was blown away by both Porcupine Tree (Fear of a Blank Planet tour, opened by 3) and Progressive Nation '09.

Three opening for Porcupine Tree may be one of the most insane shows I've ever seen. I remember sitting in my seat during the intermission wondering "How the fuck are PT going to top that?" I didn't even go to that show for 3 and I just remember feeling like I had never seen anything with that sort of power before.
But then Porcupine Tree came on and topped it. I have no idea, but somehow they did. It's rare to go to a show with that feeling. But it was maybe the best matchup I have ever seen.

The PN tours are good too, but nothing touches the Tour of a Blank Planet w/ 3.

  • I've seen a bunch of good shows, but the top two were definitely Streetlight Manifesto/the Mighty Mighty Bosstones a year or two ago, and Paul McCartney back in 2003 (I've seen him a few more times since then).

The Flaming Lips at the Troxy last November was great fun. I got to push Wayne's hamster orb. :D

My Bloody Valentine at the Roundhouse was amazing, as well

If festivals count - The MBV Nightmare Before Christmas: Specifically Lightning Bolt, MBV (again) and School of Seven Bells.

  • Joanna Newsom in a beautiful theatre at one of only a handful of shows she played backed by a full orchestra. She played Ys from start to finish, took a 15 minute intermission, and then played a second full set with a two-man backing band.

  • Mine was seeing Caspian and Arms and Sleepers.
It was the greatest thing i have ever experienced.

I saw M83 up in Columbus last July, shit was so cash!

I've seen them in Göteborg, Sweden, last year and that was awesome.
But but two favorite shows are Nine Inch Nails in Paris (With Teeth tour) and the farewell show of Burst in Sticky Fingers in Göteborg (last year).

  • Either the Grateful Dead in September of 1983 at MSG when they brought back St. Stephen, or one week later in Syracuse when they played the first Revolution. That tour was absolutely balls to the wall!

    No Fun Fest Sweden 2009

Apart from the awesome lineup, I discovered lots of new bands and met a whole bunch of nice people. Turns out that the guitarist in Wolf Eyes is a massive Morrissey-fan, and we had a nice chat about his last record.

Oh, and here's a video from when Wolf Eyes was playing Stabbed in the Face:

You can even see me in the audience! :)
