Do you think your profile is misrepresented because Last.fm only pays attention to the number of tracks, rather than the length thereof? If so, join this group and commiserate.

Aware of the difficulties the Last.fm server team would have, we propose that Last.fm and our profiles would be more accurate if our profiles reflected the time spent listening to artists, not the number of tracks.

If you'd like to link an article to the group (legitimately), please contact Andrewski. In fact, since Last.fm doesn't make keeping up with group activity easy, please contact Andrewski for anything you want him to see. :)

thanks MrSki92. LastTimer is really nice. Presents a much more realistic picture of my listening habits than just play count.

My count for The Necks would surely be much higher than it is now, would be great if this could be implemented

www.lastimer.com is a really nice one. But is there also an option for songs length tracking instead of artists length tracking?

Yes please. let's do this. Is this a thing already?

That's totally right. Too unfair that a 15:00-song counts as much as a 2:00 minute songs. After all that's why Sunn O))) has often few scrobbles :)

@pewp — actually by the songs you've listened to (it says on the website)

MrSki92, very nice idea and works great for me. Is it calculated by the average song length of the artist or actually by the songs you listenened too?

I see everything works fine, there shouldn't be any errors.

sounds like a diminishing return of how long it would take to make the change as to how much purpose it has. a lot of us listen to artists with many long tracks but so be it. the point is to listen to music not have the biggest e-dick of music listening.

Hello MrSki92, it doesn't work yet for me (Mozilla 29.0.1 version), but I'll try again, it's a nice idea!

My friend and I just created a new website which will let you generate a chart with your favourite artists sorted by time rather than playcount as in the case of regular last.fm charts. Thanks and welcome to www.lastimer.com !

you can even use that figure to guess how much music you listen to a day based on when your first scrobble on this site was (5:19:48 for me)

also, what you can do is take the average length of each song in your library (i use the average length of each played song with a smart playlist in iTunes), and multiply it by how many scrobbles you have to get a pretty rough estimate on how much time you've spent listening to music (which leaves me at 207d 5:03:23)

last.fm is already pretty terrible with track lengths as it is, and doing a complete rehaul of the entire database on here would end up taking years at best. the best solution you're ever going to get to this problem right now would be a complete guestimate
