I use it all the time, the realtime meter is really handy inside any media player if it can run VSTs. Sucks that it costs money though now. I uploaded the final version they made free publicly on my userpage, here is the link to it: http://zshare.net/download/68657716dc95b15a

there is also a dynamic range database (http://www.dr.loudness-war.info/) but the site is REALLY unhelpful. it's like they don't want those not "in the know" to learn how to add to it.

it's all good, but some artists (for example Lightning Bolt, Zach Hill or Zu) consciously make loud records. it's their schtick

  • Said artists also don't generally make dynamic music, so compression wouldn't really negatively affect their music to begin with.

If the music is loud/noisy, it doesn't mean it can have no dynamics. Not at all. Soft and gentle music suffers just as much from compression.

True that. Suzanne Vega's Beauty & Crime is very compressed. Incidentally, Marilyn Manson's
Eat Me, Drink Me is about as compressed. They were both released in 2007.

    I don't think that's very funny.

ok, it's their schtick to make loud overcompressed music.

in case of clipping. but it's also hard to listen to music with low dynamic range for a long time (as it was in the age of radio).

    Mac OSX version

I tried the (standalone) version for Mac OSX linked at the upper right side at www.dr.loudness-war.info and it works perfectly for MP3s - regrettably not for FLACs.

    Anyone tried it using "fluke"?

you're the antenna - catch the vibration."
