So basically...Rush with guest musicians John Petrucci and Mikael Akerfeldt?

  • Vocals: Steven Wilson [of Porcupine Tree, Blackfield]
Guitar: John Petrucci [of Dream Theater]
Guitar: David Gilmour [of Pink Floyd]
    Drums: Neil Peart [of Rush]
    Bass: Justin Chancellor [of Tool]
    Keys: Rick Wakeman [of Yes]

simply orgasmic - that could even be the title of the band

    Thank God I'm Agnostic.

I was going to do something very similar but changed my mind. Steven Wilson does so many side projects; I can't see why, instead of producing Akerfeldt's albums, he can't record an original album with him and some of the members of Opeth and PT. Thats a dream that actually could come true.

For some very very odd reason, I didn't even consider Keenan as a vocalist for a super prog band. Wow that blows my mind... great choices.

Nice choices. Not sure about the "dodgeridoo" though. I wonder if any metal band has ever seriously used one before.

I was kinda kidding, but you may never know... It would be fun to hear a 23' dodgeridoo solo :D

Vocals: Peter Hamill [Van Der Graaf Generator]
Guitar 1: Robert Fripp [King Crimson]
    Guitar 2: Allan Holdsworth
    Bass: Justin Chancellor [Tool]
Drums: Jon Theodore [The Mars Volta]
    Synth: Brian Eno [Roxy Music]

  • That's actually impossible to decide. But concerning the criteria, that none of the members of that supergroup should be in the same band, I think I'd go with:

Vocals - Daniel Gildenlöw (Pain Of Salvation)
Guitar - John Petrucci (Dream Theater)
Guitar - Michael Romeo (Symphony X)
Bass - Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, etc. etc.)
Keys - Richard Andersson (Time Requiem)
    Drums - Aquiles Priester (Angra)

One thought about Janne Warman appearing in this thread: guys and girls, listen to or look at Richard Andersson. He is way better in that neoclassical thing that both, Janne and he himself, are doing. AND he is also a great progressive(!!) player. Janne is great too. But not at all progressive. He's just incredibly fast. ;-)
