Here you'll find a collection of music blogs with rare/obscure music from all genres.

Welcome to the group Obscure Music Blogs aka THE CAPTCHA BROTHERS & SISTERS
This is a group for collecting all of the obscure music blogs that get too little attention or are never shown in search results. The blogs often contain that rare gem that you are looking for but they can't compete with all the other sites like Amazon, Facebook and MySpace in Googles search results. You could try every single one of them, but why would you when we now have a Google Custom Search Engine that only shows the results of these blogs and a couple of places like Bandcamp and Jamendo. You can sort the results by Scrobbles, Downloads and Streaming.

If your favourite blog isn't mentioned in the OPs then please add them in the comments and they'll be added as a source for other searchers. Please make sure that if it is a blogspot-blog to always use the blogspot.com-version, otherwise Google can't use it.

Custom Search Engine
Use this link to directly find an artist you're looking for. Currently build on 534 sites.

If you use Firefox: install the Add to Search Bar-extension, right-click on the search field of the custom search engine-page and choose "Add to Search Bar...". Now you can select an artist name on any webpage and have it search with the custom instead of the default version. If the search-bar is visible it's now easy to switch between search engines (this also works for a Last.fm-search).

I've copied the first part of the data here to a Wikia that's run by /mu/ so it'll be easier for others to update the data: http://4chanmusic.wikia.com/wiki/Discovering_Music

Until the spammers come along again I guess. It might be longer this time since Last.fm has cancelled the option to create new accounts without having Javascript enabled in the browser and the spammers used that loop-hole.

"Swiss-based file-hosting service RapidShare is about to take a drastic step in its ongoing efforts to drive away pirates. Starting later this month free users of the service will be limited to sharing just 1 gigabyte a day while paid users will be allowed to transfer up to 30 gigabytes to the public. RapidShare CEO Alexandra Zwingli says that the new measures will prevent abuse by persistent copyright infringers. I've added http://munju.net (tagged as Aggregator) as one of the sources since it looks very similar: "Imagine a site which can categorize and index most public music blogs in this part of the universe. Such a site will be the biggest archive of music in the world. This is what Munju is! Currently it is in alpha stage (not even beta!) most of the bugs are still visible to users. It is designed to index 240.000 blogs. As it is in test (alpha) now, only 1000 blogs added to see how the server will react to traffic and computing in production mode. By using this site right now, you are helping us to measure stress on the server. Once everything is perfect, the server will be reset and restarted again with full functionality."

I made a UserStyle for it with Stylish based on the build-in Black Cat-theme, as always it's dark grey, 100% width and disabled most of the unimportant stuff in the SideArea: http://userstyles.org/styles/77149/feedly-black-cat-extended?r=1350994965

It's a bit tricky: it doesn't respond when there's a trailing slash (like spot.com/) and can't find the alternative domains (like spot.fr). It also initially shows only the last 10 posts even if the feed has 500 older posts (it's very news targeted). But if you group them it's really good at finding related blogs even if their last post was years ago. The best part however is that I no longer have to put up with ugly themes, auto-starting music or long intros :)

Brilliant as usual. Thanks for that. The newbie I am had to get a close look at 9 ways to personalize your feedly to begin to handle it.

Found something interesting: if you add these blogs to http://www.feedly.com (manages your RSS-feeds in a magazine-like interface) then Google will look for related blogs and you can easily check the content before adding.

For those who want to add a blog don't use b(logspot).com anymore but .fr or .be or whatever you want.
