Alice Coltrane - Ptah, the El Daoud

  • Alice Coltrane - Ptah, the El Daoud

So, I've been listening to this album for a few weeks now and it has completely lived up to its reputation as excellent IMO. It's a very nice mellow jazz recording. It's a little traditional sounding in parts but with a nice dark sound that carries throughout.

And, Alice Coltrane lived in NYC until 1972, so this album was recorded while she was living in NYC but after the death of her husband John Coltrane. As an additional cool tie-in she was originally from Detroit where I have the distinction of currently residing.
