Kris Kristofferson? I bet he's never even driven through Mississippi. Look at the guys in that those pictures and tell me how Kris Kristofferson fits in.

There's nothing elitist about knowing what you like and sticking to it.... "Elitist" is one of those (derogatory) terms often used to try and bludgeon folks into agreeing with an idea they'd rather not endorse. Clapton, SRV, and Copeland aren't blues players as defined by the title of this group. If I wanted to listen to guitar slingers like them, there's shiton of em. Not so, the Mississippi Hill and Delta guys. I say keep it right; keep it tight.

Just wanted to let folks know about a hill country blues event that I'm producing in North Mississippi this spring. It's called "Hill Country Harmonica: A North Mississippi Blues Harp Homecoming." May 22-23, 2010. It's a two-day intensive for harmonica players and their friends. It takes place at Foxfire Ranch in Waterford, Mississippi, about ten miles south of Holly Springs and 20 miles north of Oxford. It features workshops, jam sessions, and concerts. Teacher/performers include Billy Branch, Billy Gibson, Terry "Harmonica" Bean, Bill "Howl-N-Madd" Perry, Brandon Bailey, and yours truly, Adam Gussow (of Satan and Adam). Please visit the website: http://www.hillcountryharmonica.com

R.I.P. ? I hope they do, they deserve it . ja da's jammer, maar T - model Ford is alive ! We zouden hem op het BRBF in Peer moeten zien te krijgen...samen met Bob Logg III. We hebben daar vorig jaar nog een hele dikke fat possum gezien : Solomon Burke. mag ik ook in je clubje ? gegroet. Rik

Welcome to our newest member, crossbt! And especcially since he put me in the direction of Boo Boo Davis a fabulous Blues Artist from the Delta (though not the MHC area). If you like unpolished, raw and intense blues, check him out on Last.fm, or via http://www.myspace.com/booboodavis or his record label http://www.last.fm/label/Black+and+Tan+Records/. Highly recommended!

You're probably right, I've never been very good at geography... Anyway, according to their myspace page, Elmo & Hezekiah are from Natchez, Mississippi and Furry Lewis is from Memphis (I'm not sure how far these 2 places are from the Mississippi Hill Country...)

@Theelongplayer: technically I believe these four do not come from this area (allthough I'm not sure from Elmo & Hezekiah). Are you?

I am not a fan of SRV or Clapton either, but like Jay (re: clapton) I appreciate their accomplishments. As for Robert Cray I have never listened to him. Currently, I cannot stop listening to Junior Kimbrough, his blues is fantastic.

Well, I like Robert Cray and SRV, (not so much Clapton, but I respect his accomplishments). I also like Kimbrough, NMA, and some of the old guys. I hope this isn't one of those "exclusive" groups, that doesn't want to "pollute the charts". Despite the last post, I'll take the group at its word, "In honor of all great musicians playing Mississippi Hill Country blues", and join it to honor those artists!

Awesome! A real blues group without Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Cray or Eric Clapton!!
