Explains itself. If you agree that Metallica's third album "Master of Puppets" doesn't deserve all the hype and praise it gets from virtually everywhere, join this group!

I could never comprehend all the hype and praise this album got and still gets from virtually everywhere, be it from metalheads, music fans in general or critics in and outside the metalscene. It's not a bad album (I personally find it okay, 6/10), but even Metallica have released better albums like Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning or ...and Justice For All. Is it just because it was the last album with Cliff? Or because it has a nice atmosphere? I don't get it.

Musically the whole album is monotous, bland and dull. It's filled with average and repetitive riffs that bore you to death. Metal should be exciting, but this is just sleep-inducing. Playing-wise there is nothing interesting or especially challenging in any of the songs. They all just plod along without any real twists or turns.

Also, it is not a thrash metal album. It has only 2 or 3 songs that can be considered thrash (Battery, Disposable Heroes, Damage Inc.), so only noobs would label it "the best thrash metal album". Metallica was never really 100% thrash, but Ride the Lightning and Kill 'Em All (especially) contain more thrash than this. However, this album is not considered overrated just because it isn't really thrash, that just comes on top.

Furthermore why are people often calling this album progressive and innovative? Repeating the same riff over and over or adding some random mellow, melodic parts to a song doesn't make it progressive, that's nothing new or special at all. I guess those people don't have a clue of what they are talking about. Metallica never were progressive and never will be, because they don't have the necessary talent.

I think it's pointless to try and teach hipsters like him. They only care about what's considered cool and their own personal image to try and impress others of their kind. For them, music is just about pretentiousness. That's also why Master of Puppets became such a widely hyped album, because it pretends to be more than just (thrash) metal.

It's 2015 and russians still suck at trolling. plus without records like Sin After Sin there would be no Metallica son, Sin After Sin introduced the combination of the double bass drum and rapid 16th bass rhythms combined with rapid 16th guitar rhythms that came to define the genre. While the double-bass rhythms from Judas Priest are generally measured and technical, Dissident Aggressor on this album pushed this to be an example of the style with an increase in "tempo and aggression" which was later adopted by other bands like Motörhead with a much harder-edged approach.& later on by NWOBHM and thrash bands. and without mustaine there would be no metallica playing thrash, go figure. also I just gave a listen to Endgame, the vocals was better than Hetfield vocal performances since 1990.

"Also, why is this group private?" Because of retards like you who call things gay and still want to be taken seriously. And this shoutbox isn't for discussion, because there is nothing to discuss about. Either you agree and join or disagree and leave.

Neither James nor Dave are great "singers", you don't need to sing in thrash metal, so that's irrelevant and completely subjective. Nope, Metallica doesn't have better riffs, else something like St. Anger wouldn't exist. "retarded pointless solo wankery" I think you should listen to Kirk again, he's actually the definition of that, but at least Dave doesn't need a wah-pedal to cover up a lack of creativity. Grow up, you can't expect anyone to take you seriously calling bands gay. Judas Priest on Stained Class is more metal than Metallica could ever hope to be, no matter if Rob Halford is gay or not. Only poseurs care about image and whether something is cool, tr00, gay or whatever. No true music fan would make such silly judgements.

Also, why is this group private? Are you afraid of people who disagree with the group's name? I need to join/leave all the time like an idiot to leave a message here.

You're ignoring my statement about Mustaine's shitty vocal skills. Absolutely no competition with Hetfield. And I don't "praise" Metallica, I just think they're a better band compared to those you've listed. Metallica has better riffs than Mustaine and is less oriented on retarded pointless solo wankery. And Judas Priest are gay and cheesy as fuck, only truly autistic metalheads take them seriously.

You already disqualify yourself by calling Priest "gay metal" like a child. Anybody who thinks Priest sucks while praising overrated bands like Metallica simply can't be taken seriously. And Dave is easily a more talented guitarist than both James and Kirk. I mean, there's a reason James leaves the lead playing almost entirely to Kirk (or back then Dave) and there's also a reason why Kirk keeps abusing his wah pedal since over 20 years. Face it, the only thing Metallica has over Megadeth is success and we all know how irrelevant that is.

Fuck Judas Priest. Gay metal sucks. And you say it all like Megadeth didn't "sell out". The difference between them and Metallica is that Megadeth sold out, but did it not as successfully as Metallica. Because Mustaine has shitty voice and lacks talent in general.

Except Megadeth is far superior. Also Judas Priest is currently top artist, another far superior band. But I guess Metallica kids will always be butthurt that their favourite band sold out and lost its most talented members.

Megadeth is the top artist in the group's charts. Not surprising, really. An inferiority complex will always be with Megadeth kids.

Also Metallica receive much more praise then any other thrash metal band (or any other metal band in general for that matter), which is clearly not deserving. That's why there're so fucking overrated, and especially MOP.

  • KeIemvor

But those bands aren't even NEARLY as praised as Metallica and MOP and they are just 2 of a bunch of influental black metal bands which are all rather equally admired. Plus if you don't like oldschool black metal in general (which seems to be the case), it's not really fair to judge and say it's unlistenable.

Actually, have to leave this group...I think Mayhem and Burzum have to get that credit since their early material, which is considered innovative, isn't fucking listenable at all.
