Please visit the forums and leave a shout! :D

For people who like both. Simple as that. People that realize the two can be very similar. Please don't advertise your band in the shout box, it's for suggestions, chatter, and what not. Make a thread discussion if you must. (RIP MaidenPriest420, our lord.)

I've only new deftones one spin through, it's definitely not as good as Diamond Eyes but it's solid enough.

heard the new Deftones? i tried to keep my expectations low and i found it enjoyable. they're at the point in their career where they're not gonna spit out this ground breaking album, they've already done that, a few times if you ask me. just a solid album all around. it lacks a little of the bite of their first 3 or so albums. i can't say i've spun the last couple enough to make a judgement on those. i gotta catch that Thy Art Is Murder album, thanks for the heads up!

"i definitely see TAS getting closer and closer to the meshuggah sound... which i think is a good thing.. " This excited me a lot. I can see them developing it a bit more, but I hope they keep their style at the core of it all.

at first i felt that there wasn't ENOUGH progression, TAS and VOM both, but then i realized that the fickle fans would hate it if it was too different. after a few listens and some more thought, i came to the conclusion that they actually did a great job progressing the sound but still appeasing the people coming back from previous albums.. i definitely see TAS getting closer and closer to the meshuggah sound... which i think is a good thing.. a few more albums and they'll be full blown tech metal, but they've still got that old school hardcore vibe to it so different enough to not just be a clone.. if the hardcore elements fade away then that's exactly what they will become.. a meshuggah clone band. but i have high hopes that it won't turn into that.

I love the new TAS album. It feels like a natural progression from Wormwood. I need to check out Dingir still.

death is the only mortal is all rhythms, not a whole lot of riffs there. don't get me wrong, i'm loving the album. we don't listen to The Acacia Strain for the hooks, right? i've listened through dingir like twice and it's growing on me. it's all over the place so IMO it takes a few listens through to fully absorb it.
