I think I managed to get them via youtube, but a thumbs up or down from someone who speaks Arabic would be nice! فساتين track 1; عبوة track 2; من الطابور track 3; عالحاجز track 4; شم الياسمين track 5; إم بمبللح track 6; لتلت track 7; خليها ذكرى track 8; رقصة ليلى track 9. Any mistakes, please correct me.

Hello! Has anyone got the correct tags for مشروع ليلى's debut album?

I figured out the issue. There was an invisible left to right marker in the one I was using. I switched to the other.

The 2nd link is wrong because there is an extra SPACE BAR after the name. It has happened to me before. I recommend you to switch to the first one.

How come there's this page http://www.last.fm/music/%D8%A5%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%B3%D8%A7 and this page http://www.last.fm/music/%D8%A5%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%B3%D8%A7%E2%80%8E ? Even though the URLs vary by 3 extra chars on the last one, the name (Elissa) is exactly the same. I voted to have this second page connected to the first.

Thanks for this, very helpful group. It's time-consuming (if not impossible) working out some names, especially if you have compilations full of them. There should be groups like this for all non-Romance language artists (if you find them could you link to them please?!). I tend to get lazy at the point of fixing all the track names too though... ;[

Feed http://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Database in Arabic and tags with http://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Picard will get better. My music tags in Arabic are written automatically by Picard.

The “unique to this group” charts which you can choose to view on a group’s page emphasise what is unique about the music taste of that group's members, compared to the listening habits of all other Last.fm users. This means that these charts don’t just show you what a group’s members listen to like the overall group charts do, but what is special about their listening habits in comparison to what other users on Last.fm listen to (considering the average listener’s behaviour): For example if the members of a group listen to artist A much more often than others do, artist A will be more unique to their group as this will be special to their listening habits, compared to everyone else’s; if they listen to Artist B, but everyone else also listens to artist B a lot, then this will be less special and artist B will be less unique to their group.

Check the thread now. "Unique to this group" - no idea what it means :)

    juli 2011
  • Grosseteste

Even better on the "Unique to this group" list (I've never understood that chart; it obviously isnt made up of artists only listened to by members of this group, so what is it?) By the way, is anyone in the group able to help with Persian/Iranian names?

Finally an Arabic artist on the top of the group chart :)

I agree too, I'm just new to Groups :) Also, I'll make a list of artists in Latin and Arabic, I'm quite busy now but I'll start soon.

Many thanks... I'll have a lot more requests I'm afraid. Perhaps you could set a discussion page for the group, so that we don't clutter the Shoutbox? Or do you prefer it here?

Also, could someone supply the correct tag for Lotfi Bouchnak & the Ensemble al-Kindi please?

    juli 2011
  • Grosseteste

Is أحمد مختار not the correct form for Ahmed Mukhtar? There's no page for him under this form...

    juni 2011
  • Grosseteste

It would be useful to develop a list in alphabetical order of the Romanised versionsof artists' names, each followed by the Arabic form. Then people could come here, lokk up the artist, and cut-and-paste the Arabic form to correct their tags. As for Greek names; when I started listening through Last.fm, very few rembetika artists were here in Greek form -- not even some of the big names. A few of us have spent a long time adding them. It would be nice if the same could happen for Arabic names.

    juni 2011
  • constellator

There're many mistakes for Bulgarian artists for example. Here is a group that may be useful http://www.last.fm/group/Use+Cyrillic+fonts!

    juni 2011
  • constellator

Well, it's normal for Latin names to be more popular on Last.fm. But it's not a big problem for Greek music, I find everything I'm looking for written in Greek, even the albums and song titles. But it's a nice group.

    juni 2011
  • Grosseteste

The Greek version of this group is: let's get our greek tags right.

    juni 2011
  • Grosseteste

Unfortunately not true -- certainly as regards Greek. There are lots of artists only represented in Romanised forms (often in multiple version: all caps, no caps, mistransliterated, Greeklish, etc.). I'd be surprised if there weren't any Hebrew, Chinese, etc. artists in the same position. And for someone who knows no Chinese, Hebrew, etc., finding the correct versions without a group like this is difficult if not impossible.

    juni 2011
  • constellator

No, I don't know any. They don't need one. You can find every Hebrew artist in Hebrew on Last.fm. Just as Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Greek. The problem is about ARABIC, Hindi, Amharic, etc.

    juni 2011
  • ZlatkoT

Hey guys I make sure all my tags are in Arabic even though I am not fluent, makes for less pages as when it is transliterated into English there can be more than one differences, if you guys know a group that also does this for niqqud (hebrew) i would like to know :)

    juni 2011
  • Grosseteste

Great, thanks. I was unsure, because the Last.fm page didn't have many listeners... I thought he's be more popular.

    juni 2011
  • constellator

    Yes, it's correct

    juni 2011
  • Grosseteste

Is إلهام المدفعي the correct form for Ilham Al Madfai?

    juni 2011
  • constellator

You probably know that last.fm is auto-correcting some artist names. Like Amr Diab in Arabic, Ivri Lider in Hebrew. I personally have disabled this option but a friend of mine told me that when she's listening to Japanese artist, a huge percent of them become auto-corrected to their Japanese names. It's a shame it's not working for Arabic artists, we should change that... song titles and bio - latinized but artist names - arabized. We'll see if something will change after time.

    juni 2011
  • constellator

@ Grosseteste You're welcome, thanks for joining! You're right, it's normal for non-Arabic speakers to use latinization when it comes to the song titles. It's all about the artist names. You can ask here any question. Have fun! :)

    juni 2011
  • constellator

@ msXblack Why should we confirm to the people who are lazy, careless or just ignorant? There is only one way to write Elissa's name in Arabic correctly and it's إليسا. For many people "they're" is the same as "there" or "it's" is the same as "its" but this doesn't make it right neither. Languages have rules, don't they?
