song that got you hooked on amt

  • song that got you hooked on amt

mine would have to be the 25 min juggernaut dark star blues but ive only got their cd does the cosmic shepherd dream of electric tapirs

  • shit.. probably listening to Electric Heavyland at full blast did that to me :)

  • hmmm... i think that was the 'monster of the universe' album

  • Saw them live at ATP, then downloaded 'Psycho Buddha' and then waited a while until I was drawn towards buying 'Mantra of Love'. 10 records later it's hard to think about an individual song...

  • I bought 'Absolutely Freak Out' before I'd heard anything by them, on the strength of recommendations, and found it rather hard going at first. 'Incipient Light of the Echoes' stood out, but that now seems more like a Kawabata solo track after hearing 'I'm in Your Innermost'. I think 'Psycho Buddha' on New Geocentric World was the first time I got totally into the AMT sound.

And I completely fell in love with them after seeing the Soul Collective Tour (Kawabata, Higashi Hiroshi, Cotton Casino and Emi Nobuko) in Manchester. They arrived carrying supermarket carrier bags full of John Smiths bitter, manned their own merchandise stall and wandered about chatting before and after the gig. The nicest people you could ever meet.

  • Univers Zen Ou de Zero a Zero

I was digging Univers Zero(the band) then, so got interested a lot because of the title. That's when it started.

    Space Age Ballad

I downloaded a couple of their albums from soulseek, and Space Age Ballad really stood out on new geocentric world. I just really loved the calm spaced out feel to the song. Psycho Buddha was probably the first song that introduced me to the real sound of the band though. My favorite right now is probably Pink Lady Lemonade, I heard some live versions off of archive.org that are really awesome.

  • Hmm, Psycho Buddha has quite a few mentions, which is odd because I don't think 'New Geocentric World' is one of their better albums.

BTW are any of you going to catch the upcoming Boredoms tour? I'm seeing them in Dublin and can't wait.

Pink Lady Lemonade - I think I was searching for long songs and soon found myself mesmerised by it. At the moment, the two songs I can't stop playing are Hello Good Child and Le Lapin.

  • Definitley the hour version of Pink Lady Lemonade (You're So Sweet) from the 3 disc collection Do Whatever You Want, Don't Do Whatever You Want!! (What?) lol. I love that little "What?" bubble on the cover. Anyway, my friend picked it up from this groovin record shop and played that track and I was just groovin on it. SOOO awesome. That entire song is just one massive psychedelic journey... not to mention the awesome guitar solo at like minute 24!

Anyway, that's the on for me :)

It was probably Electric Love Machine. I just love the incredibly distorted guitar kicking into a fairly calm intro. And then the crazy acid ride begins. <3
