What book or books are you reading?

  • I'm rereading The Lord of the Rings right now, because I'm a huge fantasy dork sometimes. I'll use the excuse that I'm doing it to prepare for the upcoming movie version of The Hobbit.

    Also, for curiosity's sake:

Some really good titles in here :)

I'm reading for my literature major "Tender is the Night" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. And for my own pleasure "Eating Animals" by Jonathan Safran Foer.

I mean absolutely no offense, I love lit. analysis and think it's incredibly interesting and cool, but what do you do with a degree in literature? Go on to teach literature to other lit. majors? It was something I had considered until I realized this.

  • Memoirs of a Geisha.

Just begun last night and it's lovely so far, can't wait to get home and continue.

    You're awesome.

I'm reading a book which I have to write a book review for for coursework, and I've been reading it FOREVER (ie. three months). It's called The Tiger That Isn't and it's about how how stats are wrongly read in the media and it is good just not that interesting. The chapters are very loooooong. And I have to read whole chapters at a time. Because.

I have just finished Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks, an amazing story set in WW1.

I couldn't put the book down and felt like I had been dragged through the mud and all over France once I had finished reading it. An excellent book that I highly recommend

ooh, i haven't read it but i like the movie. and the fact that the author is norwegian /proud
    Indeed, the film is awesome!

He is a smart cookie that one. Was listening to his Norwegian band too the other day. not bad =]

  • The Name of the Rose

  • Currently re-reading Fight Club. It's not as good as I remember it being a few years ago, but then again Chuck Palahniuk is pretty overrated save for Choke. And of course the film is much better. Next, I plan to read American Psycho. I've never been able to get through all of it before, so hopefully that will change.
