[Solution Here] Cannot Connect to Server Error - No Scrobbling

  • This might explain some of the problems, from Mr Audioscrobbler himself...

I'm back up and running now also, so fingers crossed.

On Vista type that the command into the "Start Search" bar instead (the bottom bit of new vista start menu).

Sorry about this, questions welcome below.

Now, the log in screen it won't let you log in. Just re-start the computer.

That's how it's worked for me. Good Luck.

Works for me now, took some time. Probably the servers was down :/

oh, forgot I also uninstalled the plugin for winamp. Perhaps that had to speed up the process

Thanks to prom we traced this down to the wrong password hash being sent from the client - please go to the options dialog in the client and RE-ENTER your username and password, then save.

    Worked for me, thank you thank you thank you for bringing my music back after a listless week of last.fmless silence! :-{)}

  • What if I'm trying to *install* last.fm but it can't connect to the server/find media players?

yeah, it's been about two months since mine worked and still nobody has been able to figure out what's wrong, either through the help email or the forum.

  • OK, so I started having this problem 24 hours ago - right after I installed WinAmp for the 1st time. I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it?

Anyhow... I changed my password and PING - works again first time. Just as well because I was tearing my hair out! :-)

Yay, working again. *knocks on wood*

    Anyway, if it's helpful:

    I'm on Windows Vista.

    I use winamp.

    Thanks for this solution.

  • It seems that all the procedures above are only valid when you are using the Last.fm client, and it is not my case. I have not used the last.fm client in the last 10 days.

The problem I have posted in this topic (which was closed), is occurring with me when I listen through Last.fm website.

Someone have some idea of how can I solve this, please?

    Regards.

  • Hello,

Could some moderator take a look in this thread please?

The above mentioned problem is occurring frequently, when I listen through Last.fm Website. Inumerous listened tracks are not being scrobbled.

Someone have some idea of what could be the cause of this? I have sent an e-mail to technical support, but nobody answers me. :(

    Regards.

P.S.: I know that this is not the appropriate forum to this question, but as I have mentioned above, the thread I have opened at the same was closed without any response, and this thread was "suggested" me.

  • Sweet mines working now.

Noticed that my scrobbling also stuck to the cache and I got errors about servers being down. Re-entered the username and password in the options as mentioned in page 1 in this thread, and hey, it flushed the cache to last.fm.

  • The Solution Worked for Me.

If that works, post here saying so.

    Thanks,

    I tried that, and I can't connect.

Ok, next step (and the one that worked for prom), is to change your password on the site, AND in the client (to the same thing, obviously).

    --jonty

I changed my password on the site, and then I uninstalled and reinstalled the "last" client. Everything works fine now, after previously not working for the two weeks since I installed Vista. Thanks, this was driving me crazy!

  • I changed my password, uninstalled and reinstalled and the software won't let me log in, it says connection problem :(.

  • ok so for the first few days the scrobbling was fine but then all of a sudden it just stopped. Today I reinstalled the Last.Fm tool for transferring the music and it was fine this afternoon but now it is not showing up for any music i play, it is really frustrating, can anyone help me please?!

  • I'm having problem with setup wizard, this is so frustrating. :(

  • thanks, jonty!

I was also having this problem for 3-4 days, but I re-entered my username and password in the client and now everything is good. It submitted all the cached one and seems to be scrobbling now.

    Yay!

  • thanks

just rewriting the username/password worked out for me, thanks a lot...

Have you done a clean uninstall as explained here? wich error are you getting? eventually you can try to shutdown any security software while reinstalling.

To find out the possible origin of any issue always go through the basic checkouts before reporting. So you can address more or less where the malfunctioning is.

Yes, I did but it says Windows cannot find and I also shut down all my security software.

    ETA:
I did the following, "C:\Program Files\Last.fm\Cleaner changed my password and I still have connection error.

  • i feel repetitive, but i havent used last.fm in a while and am trying to get it going on a different computer. I have had to try to install the program close to 30 times fully get it to install because it randomly shuts down in the middle of the process (as short as it is). When i start it up, it claims that " Last.fm was unable to connect to the plugin for your media player. Details: Could not start listening of socket. socket error: 10022."
when i click out of this I am on the setup menu (meaning I havent even logged in yet. I click next and type in my username and new password (which i changed after reading all this stuff). When I do this, it takes about 2 minutes and then says "Couldn't connect to the internet to verify user details." and then asks for proxy details which shouldnt be relevant. I have made sure the firewall is letting it go through, and have restarted the computer. I had been using itunes, but have now just installed winamp too. Can i get any more suggestions? this is really frustrating.

now I have the solution, it´s quite simple, no reinstallation needed,

for more details, email me: popctrlx@hotmail.com

Could you describe what you did?

  • Helppppppppppp

I accidentally uninstalled lastfm a few months ago, and immediately afterwards I tried to re-install/re-download it. But I got this message,

    "Connection Error

Couldn't connect to the internet to verify your user details.

If you use a proxy to connect to the internet, please click the button below to enter your proxy details.

    Proxy Settings...

    Ok Cancel"

I've tried very often since the other month, and I get the same message everytime.

I have no idea what to do, I've tried several things. I don't use a proxy. Someone may have installed a program onto the computer without letting me know that wouldn't let me reach the internet for that program.... Butttt, I dunno. Can anyone halp me? =[

Oh, and I use a Windows XP by the way.
