Albums disappearing from the Library

  • The albums are there, however they are listed under an incorrect artist name (checking the track in your library should show you the albums causing the problem). The bad news is we can't fix this until we can do album corrections (in the same way we do artist/track corrections).

However, we have fixed a bug which should prevent scrobbles being attributed to the wrong album (or wrong album artist) so long as your ID3 tags are correct.

I'm afraid album correction might be a little way off, as first we need to be able to disambiguate artists sharing the same name, and work out release groups for those artists.

  • That's not true. An example: http://www.last.fm/user/holland25/library/music/Vanilla+Ninja

Example of a song: Club Kung Fu. It is attributed to the correct artist (Vanilla Ninja and to the correct album (Vanilla Ninja by Vanilla Ninja). And yet there's still an album missing when you open the library...

    x2

They do not seem to even understand the problem, which is strange since it seems so blatant, and it's a problem affecting everyone on the site, as far as I can tell.

All my songs were scrobbled correctly and one day the album field randomly started vanishing from songs in the library. They are still connected to the albums, once you click on an album.

    Sophisticated.
  • yeah, thanks Knapster but that was an old problem, this is a new one!

All album tags are complete and correct, linked to the correct artist and the correct album page, one day the album field in the library just vanished though. You have to click on each track to see a breakdown of albums it appears on (which is correct), but the main artist listing is irritatingly devoid of my carefully scrobbled metadata.

just reverse whatever you guys did to make it break to begin with ;P getting fed up of things like this happening all the time

It does seem better than it was before (most albums have reappeared) but there are some random gaps that I KNOW had album fields before

I'm glad to hear about the other major fixes you're making (like, yay! I know that took a lot of development), I just wish they didn't go hand-in-hand with new bugs ;[

Also, I seem to have lost the ability to sort by the 'Album' field.

Same here.... can't remember if this what should be basic functionality
was 'built-in' or a greasemonkey script
    but it's now MIA in chrome19, ff12, ie7, 8 & 9.......

  • I hadn't noticed that, drat.

My Coil plays seem to be missing 30-40% of the album associations, that's worse than the ones I was keeping an eye on... you can see each track ties to a Coil album http://www.last.fm/user/outrenoir/library/music/Coil

happy bank hols, i know there ain't no-one there :)

    I'm having the same problem. Examples: 1, 2, 3.

Is there a chance that this problem will be fixed?

  • I've given up any hope that they'll fix it.

    Sophisticated.
  • Jesus, really? Still nothing? Come on...

  • I've also been having this problem for a long time now.

  • Thanks for posting examples everyone, i'm trying to get this issue bumped as it's been around a while now.

Any ETA on a fix for this bug? It's now October...

  • I'm starting to think this will never get fixed. It's now december and this problem is not even featured in the 'known issues' thread.

One more example of the problem: http://www.last.fm/user/AlkoholixRex/library/music/Drowning+the+Light
Album titles started disappearing as soon as this artist got to 99 different tracks.
When there were 98 track or less, every album title was still being displayed.

Seriously, please fix this. It's been going on for the better part of a year. Every other artist in my library seems to have this issue, and since the only reason I use this site is for all the cool lists and charts and stuff...

A few examples, if you need more:

  • I gave up on bumping this thread a long time ago. I got used to it... They won't fix it anyway.

  • ditto

pretty sure i started a thread older than this one too

mostly now I wish they'd fix the autocorrect madness! but this would be nice too!

  • doesnt srobble

I have a same problem with scrobbling.. Please, last.fm fix it !

    loveless

  • This is a known issue which is causing the website to display the incorrect number of scrobbles/artists in your library. Don't worry, no scrobbles have been lost from the database. Our team are working on the issue, and we hope to have it resolved early next year.

    Is it Christmas yet?
