John McLaughlin and Chick Corea have created some of the most explosive electric jazz of all time. They join forces for the first time since they were an essential part of the seismic days, some 40 years ago, when Miles Davis brought the language of jazz into collision with the technology of rock and funk. Their own bands of the 1970s, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Return to Forever, were further landmarks in the evolution of a post-acoustic vision of jazz. Reunited, they play music from past, present and future with a stellar band.

Kenny Garrett continues the Miles connection, the saxophonist from the trumpeter’s latter-day bands; and Vinnie Colaiuta and Christian McBride are the drum and bass team providing irresistible power and groove.

    Me too. Too much ego from the other players. Can't say a bad word about Chick - or about McBride - but seriously there was a lot of musical .... 'self gratification'. And was I the only one in the concert hall who was disgusted at the fact the ushers seemed to think it was okay to let people in mid-concert, mid-piece, and roam the aisles with torches spying on people taking photos in such a way that was highly distracting to the music? Thankfully this doesn't sum up the state of British concert going, but I couldn't believe how many people thought it was okay to wander around the concert hall in the middle of pieces of music. It was like watching musical chairs. I wish we'd had a chance to hear a little more of Chick's musicality, as we did last time when he played London with Gary Burton. It could have been so great.

    ehhhh... didn't like it so much. corea was great but the solos went on for too long.
