Beskrivning

"Presley started his musical career playing in the hardcore punk band The Nerve Agents, which was formed in 1998. The band was known for their chaotic live performances that often incited violence. The band was also highly influenced by punk bands like Black Flag and The Damned. After The Nerve Agents disbanded, Presley formed the group Darker My Love, which released music more similar to the psychedelic rock music Presley would release under the name White Fence. Once Darker My Love called it quits Presley began recording and releasing music under his alias White Fence.

White Fence released his debut self-titled album in 2010 through the record label Make A Mess Records. White Fence recorded the album by himself in his apartment and used low cost equipment, which gave the album a lo-fi sound. The album received generally favorable reviews and has been compared to the sound of 60s garage rock. White Fence released his second album “Is Growing Faith” in 2011. The album conveyed Presley’s DIY ethic by him writing and performing all his original songs, acting as an engineer on the album, and creating the album’s artwork. The album contained the same psychedelic, garage rock sound as the previous album, but used slightly more intricate instrumentation. The album also contained the cover song “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around a Memory” by the New York punk rocker Johnny Thunders.

2012 was a busy year for White Fence with him releasing three albums that year. His first release in 2012 was “Family Perfume Vol. 1”, which was the first record of a two part series. Later on in the year he released the second part of the series called “Family Perfume Vol. 2”. Both albums contained White Fence’s signature lo-fi psychedelic sound that often resembles some of John Lennon’s work. That same year he collaborated with singer/songwriter Ty Segall to release the album “Hair”. The album was initially intended to be a split record, but ended with the two musicians collaborating on all the songs.

In 2013 White Fence released his fifth studio album “Cyclops Read”, which was released through the record label Castle Face. The album was recorded in a lo-fi format through the use of using a 4-track recorder. White Fence released his sixth studio album in 2014 called “For The Recently Found Innocent”. The album contains a slightly more pristine sound than White Fence’s previous recordings, as it was recorded in a studio as opposed to a 4-track recorder in Presley’s bedroom. The album was also mixed by Ty Segall. When not recording music or performing it live, White Fence is busy releasing albums under the record label he founded called Birth Records. Freak-folk singer Jessica Pratt is one of several artists, who have released an album through Birth Records."

"Tim Presley's White Fence is the musical equivalent of the drug rug you wrap yourself in when things get too intense. Warm, wooly, warped and eminently ear-wormy, his meandering creations have the crackle of home-tracked intimacy, the thousand yard stare of prime era Syd Barrett, and the restless inventiveness and tireless output we champion here at Castle Face.
